We have moved just up the street. New facility. Bigger, Better, More capabilities & Possibilities. This time, We are dry! That's right. No more working around the short curcuited electric service, or holding customer meetings inside the rained-in offices and lunchroom of the old place. We are High and Dry and ready to replace your cabinet doors or cabinets today.

Delta Cabinet Doors will resume ordinary business Saturday 11/6/21. We'll begin setting appointments immediately for first time Meet & Greet and/or Design-Sessions for new kitchens. We'll have an Open-House atmosphere on Saturday 11/6/21 for anyone wanting to stop in and look at Samples, Talk about a your project, Learn more of what we can do to help, Or heck, just stop in for Coffee & Donuts. Weather permitting, we may barbeque some Burgers and Hot Dogs. Whatever the case, we hope to see you on Saturday, or hear from you via an Estimate Request Form through our website. Office will open at 10:00 AM on Saturday 11/6/21. Thank you for your patience through this trying season.

The shop has started production already with a skeleton crew working on jobs that were already in progress and had to be completed to honor our obligations to our past and existing accounts.

As with all major life changing events of the past, we are re-examining our business model and likely will be making some changes. These changes will be designed to help accommodate the need for help that so many have.

There is, and there will be many more people in this city that need help right now. We are going to do whatever we can to assure that we put systems in place to help the maximum amount of people in the least amount of time.

We will likely put limits on "Luxury work" if not a complete moratorium on accepting jobs that are not of critical infrastructure to ones home. In other words, In this environment of limited resources and critical need, homeowners who lack a kitchen sink, or a vanity for their kids to brush their teeth, will get our priority over another customer who may want a unique china-cabinet for the holidays.

Upon our reopening announcement, we'll post a target schedule for jobs in progress. And, the display room will be open again for appointments.

Ida Damage & Rebuild report Delta Cabinet Door Co.
UPDATED 9/27/21

As stated in earlier posts, Our facility (Shop and Offices) Delta Cabinet Doors, a Division of D&L Grinding Co Inc. located at 304 Hord St, Suites #304, #302, #300 in Harahan, New Orleans, LA 70123 sustained moderate-severe damage in hurricane Ida.

Progress is being made toward our reopening.
The A/C has been repaired, Thanks to Vanderbrook & Son A/C Services. Highly recommended, BTW. We’ve gotten a good bit of the damaged interior cleaned up and repairs are ongoing.

Unfortunately, as of today, the facility is still inoperable due to lacking essential service IE; Telephone, Internet, and some other electric issues.

Despite receiving an email message from Cox Communications that our phone and Internet were in fact restored, the system is still inoperable.
I’ve been commuting from Bay St Louis in my free time (dealing with a destroyed home, and car) in effort to get the business facility sufficient again for business. (See Damon Eskine’s personal FB post upcoming on 9/28/21 for info on Damon and Donald’s home).

Time restraints from the Homefront rebuild have had us circling the metro area from Bay Saint Louis, to Manchac, and to Harahan in traffic that is absolutely deplorable! I’ve managed to get in there a few times lately in my “Free-Time”, lol. I went in to the shop Friday night/ Sat Morning and at 2:00 AM and held on the phone with Cox for 3 hours trying to get our business phone/internet system up in-house rather than wait for the tech to come out.

Cox tech-support advised the modem needs replacing from a likely surge due to lightning. I was first in line at Best-Buy Saturday morning after sleeping 2 hours on a workbench in the shop. After another 3 hours on the phone with Cox again Saturday, The modem was deemed defective and advised to be replaced. Love it!!! Grrrrrr!!!. Back to Best Buy to swap out the bad modem. I was the last customer in the place in the evening as they were closing. Replaced the modem, Spent another 3 hours on with Cox tech-support to learn that the line into the building IS NOT LIVE! Fun Fun!

After giving it everything we’ve got making the necessary repairs in-house, A last resort, we’ll be waiting for the Cox tech to come out for a service call and get us live again. It is a shame how reliant we have become to internet! Phone, Computers, Cameras, Security, Accounts, A/C Thermostat, Doorbell, Communications and More.

We will remain temporarily closed until these essential services are restored.

This damage and all of these domino-effect aftermaths that are directly related to hurricane Ida on August 29, 2021 has progress on all Jobs in remaining status “temporarily suspended”.

We’ve been in touch with all active customers and will be honoring each agreement, or addendum to agreements as we’ve discussed. Again, our deepest apologies to all and thank you for your understanding our woes in this trying time.

In coming days, as in the past week, Delta administrators and/or key personnel will be in & out of the facility with volunteer helpers and/or non affiliated workmen (contractors) continuing getting the place in working order.

Shop work will resume as soon as circumstances allow.

We will begin looking at new jobs (Giving Estimates) again as soon as the circumstances allow. Our backlog of new leads are becoming as backlogged as production services, So please everyone, Just more patience and time is what this will take to get through.

Dear Valued Customers, Vendors, Affiliates and Friends,

It’s official. Our assumptions and preliminary notices regarding the business of Delta Cabinet Doors, a Division of D&L Grinding Co Inc. were pretty accurate.

Our Hord Street facility got hit pretty hard. It's Crippled, but not a total loss.

Our facility Located at 304 Hord St, Suites #304, #302, #300 in Harahan, New Orleans, LA 70123 sustained moderate-severe damage to the exterior of the building. The doors blew in, front flashing on the building blew off, interior walls and ceilings collapsed and caved in. Rain saturated most interior structures, material, inventory, products, tools, and equipment. The interior structures (our offices) have been rattled and structural evaluations for these are necessary and in the works. Most of the roof held up, which is good. Some leaks occurred, but the structure held for the most part.

Some, but not all of partially fabricated cabinet parts for the jobs in progress have been affected. Each order, (job on progress) are being evaluated on a case-by-case basis and compared to the insurance payout proposals to help determine what solutions are available for each project related.

We will be temporarily closed until essential services are restored. Currently, the facility on Hord Street is useless, There exists Damaged Tools & Equipment, and Lack of essential services, infrastructure, and staff. Most of our staff including administrators Damon and Donald Eskine homes were destroyed. Our home, in the little town of Akers at the northern tip of St. John parish at the Tangipahoa line was completely destroyed along with one of our cars. Other staffers have challenges at their homes as well.

This damage directly related to hurricane Ida on August 29, 2021 has rendered our production and progress on open jobs “temporarily suspended”.

We have no AC, No internet, Limited electric, No phone service and a massive amount of clean up to do. At a time we need these essential services the most, they are at their worst for the very same reason. IE; Phone, Internet, AC, Staff, Etc.

Customers and Vendors with which we hold open business and/or under sales contract may rest assure, we'll be following through with our obligations only on a new timeline once one can be established.

Jobs-in-progress will be completed and or otherwise made whole. We’ll be in touch with everyone on an individual basis as new plans are made. Insurance and legal evaluations are ongoing. Conclusions and available options for each case are pending.

In coming days, Delta administrators and/or key personnel will be in & out of the facility with volunteer helpers and/or non affiliated workmen (contractors) getting the place repaired and in working order.

From experience, we know there is certain to be an oncoming tidal wave of business oncoming from the thousands of other fellow hurricane rebuilders. Our goal is to be ready for them.

We will be working with our insurance company on a case by case basis for the individual values of the jobs in progress determining exact value-added up until the date of the catastrophe.

We ask at this time everyone please be patient. Even in a best case scenario, things are going to take some time. We’ll release a targeted re-open date as well as new production schedule as soon as one can be established. We will be back just as soon as we possibly can get the facility back into working order.

Delta Cabinet Door's Entergy power came back online, post Ida, on Friday 9/10/21. We do expect to start back a skeleton-staff sometime between 9/13/21-9/20/21 and doing what we can to begin recovery. There is still much uncertainty surrounding the situation and condition of our shop, materials, and inventory for jobs-in-progress. A full assessment is yet to be performed by our administration, insurance adjusters, for business and property etc. We have some work ahead of us. We will keep everyone updated here on Facebook of progress as it unfolds. Our phone lines and Internet service is still down as of the same time.
