Wallpaper can completely transform a room - add character, create a statement, or give a space that finished, elevated look.

But before you fall in love with a pattern, there are a few things to consider.

Your wall matters.
Wallpaper needs a properly prepared, smooth, clean and dry surface. If your walls are textured, that texture may need to be removed or skim-coated first. Otherwise, it can show through the wallpaper and may also affect how evenly the paper adheres.

The room matters, too.
Not every wallpaper is suitable for every space. Bathrooms, for example, come with higher humidity, so the wallpaper and adhesive need to be appropriate for that environment — and good ventilation matters.

Patterns change the math.
With patterned wallpaper, we can’t simply calculate the square footage of the wall and order accordingly. Pattern repeats and pattern matching require very precise cuts, and depending on the design, they can create considerably more waste. That means you may need more rolls than the wall area alone would suggest.

And one more tip: when ordering multiple rolls, make sure they come from the SAME dye lot/batch whenever possible. Small color variations between production runs can become very noticeable once they’re hanging side by side.

Wallpaper is an amazing way to give a room personality and make it feel truly special - but proper planning and preparation are what make the finished result look seamless.

With more than 20 years of experience in wallpaper installation, we know that the difference is always in the details.

When you clean an entire home, don’t start with the easy rooms.

I personally like to start with the master bathroom, followed by the other bathrooms and the kitchen. These are usually the areas that need the most detailing, the most attention - and often the most time.

There’s another advantage: many products used in bathrooms and kitchens need time to work.

For example, if I treat a glass shower door for hard-water buildup, I apply the product first and let it sit for the recommended dwell time. While it’s doing its job, I can clean the vanity, mirrors, fixtures or another part of the bathroom.

By the time I come back to the shower, the product has done part of the work for me.

Start with the most demanding rooms, use dwell time wisely - and once the bathrooms and kitchen are done, the hardest part is already behind you.

Of course, you could also use that dwell time to scroll through a few Reels or make yourself a really good sandwich. We’re not judging. 😉

What a difference a day made.

Well… technically, not even a day. But you get the idea.

We started by removing the old carpet and replacing it with Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring (Traffic Master, Finish Alberta Spruce) then installed new quarter rounds in white to finish everything properly.

There was also a drywall crack underneath the window that needed attention. We repaired the crack, matched the existing orange peel texture, and repainted the affected repair area only. The rest of the room did not need paint, so we didn’t paint it. We’re big fans of fixing what actually needs fixing.

LVP was also a great choice for these homeowners, especially with a dog in the house. It’s easy to clean, low-maintenance, durable, and still gives a room a polished, finished look. There’s a reason it has become such a popular flooring choice.

A much fresher room, without turning it into a bigger project than it needed to be.

The Work Before the Work.

Sometimes, the prep takes almost as much time as the actual painting.

For this project, we’re repairing an existing popcorn ceiling before it gets repainted. Since the ceiling will be sprayed, everything that should NOT receive paint has to be carefully protected first -furniture, walls, windows, floors and fixtures.

Existing popcorn texture can be surprisingly fragile. Moisture from paint combined with the mechanical action of a roller can soften and loosen the texture, causing it to pull away or crumble. That’s why we’re spraying this ceiling instead of rolling it.

For this project, we’re using Sherwin-Williams ProBlock Oil-Based Primer before finishing with Sherwin-Williams Premium Ceiling Paint. The primer helps seal the existing surface and gives us a properly prepared base before the finish coat is applied.

A lot of what makes a paint job look clean and professional happens long before the final coat goes on.

Good results start with good prep.

I’m probably going to hurt some feelings with this one…

A Swiffer WetJet does not replace a good mop, a bucket and the right floor cleaner for your certain type of floor.

Is it convenient? Absolutely. If something gets spilled or you need a quick touch-up, it can be a great tool to have around.

But for me, it is not a substitute for properly cleaning the floors throughout an entire home - especially as your only long-term floor-cleaning routine.

A good mop, clean water and the right product for your specific flooring allow you to actually remove dirt instead of relying on a quick convenience solution.

There are some places where you can save time when cleaning. But there are also things you simply can’t shortcut if you want a truly clean home.

Convenience has its place. So does a bucket. 🪣

More than 60,000 miles on Florida roads in one year.

That’s a lot of time behind the wheel - traveling between customers, jobs, estimates and supply runs.

And when your vehicles spend that much time on the road, we believe taking care of them comes with a responsibility.

We stay on top of maintenance, repairs, tires and anything else that helps keep our vehicles running properly and efficiently.

Not just because we depend on them every day.

We don’t want neglected leaks leaving oil or other fluids behind on a customer’s driveway. We don’t want poorly maintained vehicles burning more fuel than necessary. And when we put tens of thousands of miles on the road every year, we believe we have a responsibility to minimize the impact wherever we reasonably can.

It’s probably not the first thing people think about when they think of a home service company.

But it’s part of the standard we set for ourselves - even in the things our customers may never see.

WHY DOES PROFESSIONAL HOME SERVICE COST WHAT IT COSTS?

Because you’re paying for more than the time we spend in your home.

Your payment helps cover:

- Skilled labor & extensive years of experience
- Insurance, workers comp & payroll taxes
- Vehicles, maintenance & fuel
- Professional tools & equipment
- Training & education
- Business operations

And most importantly: People

People who pay mortgages.
Buy groceries.
Raise families.

And yes - sometimes your payment helps pay for someone else’s daughter’s ballet classes.

That’s not overhead we apologize for.
That’s what a healthy local business is supposed to do.

Support local businesses.
You’re supporting more than a service.

It started with a filing…

August 19, 2022.

And this date felt big from the very beginning.

Because filing All Around Your House LLC wasn’t just about starting a business. It was our first real milestone on a much bigger journey - the journey that would eventually bring us to the United States.

So yes, this date has always been special to us.

And somehow, today, our little company turns FOUR.

Calling All Around Your House “our business” or our company almost doesn’t feel like enough.

This company is our baby.

There is so much of us in it. So much love, work, stress, money, learning, worrying, growing, changing, figuring things out, starting over when something didn’t work - and being incredibly proud when it did.

We built this from the ground up.

Not perfectly. Definitely not effortlessly. But very deliberately, and always with the idea that if our name is on something, we want to be proud of it.

Over these four years, AAYH has given us so much more than a business.

It gave us a way to build a life in the United States. It gave us independence. It challenged us in ways we never expected. It made us grow - as business owners and as people.

And then there are our clients.

The people who took a chance on us when we were new in town. The ones who called us back. Who referred us. Who trusted us with their homes over and over again. Some of whom have been with us almost from the beginning, and some who have become much more than “just clients” along the way.

That part will always mean everything to us.

When I look at that little Sunbiz filing from August 19, 2022 today, I don’t just see a company registration.
I see the beginning of everything that came after it.

Four years of building something that we love, that we are deeply attached to, and that we are incredibly proud of.

Happy 4th Anniversary to our baby. ❤️

And here’s to everything that still lies ahead.

Cleaning like a Pro | Tip #02

You really don’t need a cabinet full of fancy cleaning products to keep your home clean.

For most homes, five good basics will cover almost everything:

- All-purpose cleaner
- Degreaser
- Bathroom cleaner / descaler
- Glass cleaner
- Toilet bowl cleaner

But choosing the right product is only half the job. Just as important is knowing which product is safe to use on which surface. A great cleaner used on the wrong material can quickly do more harm than good.

Professional cleaning isn’t about using more products - it’s about knowing what to use, where to use it, and how to use it correctly.

At AAYH, we avoid harsh chemicals whenever possible and choose pet-safe and vegan products wherever we can, with only a few exceptions when a specific job requires something stronger.

That protects not only your home, your pets and the environment, but also our own health and the health of our team. As professional cleaners, we work with these products for hours every day, so reducing unnecessary exposure matters to us.

Five good products. The right knowledge. Better cleaning.

And yes - the right tools, cloths and brushes matter too. We’ll get to those 😉

The best repair is the one you can’t see.

In this case, a plumber had repaired the lines above the shower and simply put the cut-out piece of drywall back into place afterward.

A repair can technically “work” and still not be a finished job.

Proper finishing means taking care of the details - clean transitions, matching the existing texture (knock down in this case) blending it in, and leaving the area looking like it was never repaired in the first place.

That’s always our goal.

Because “fixed” and “finished” are not the same thing.

We know homes end to end.
