Taking shape. ✏️

A look inside the new primary suite as the framing comes together.

What you see here is more than a new bedroom — this addition was designed to make the entire home work harder. Above, a light-filled primary suite with a vaulted ceiling and generous windows. Below, an expanded kitchen and much-needed storage that transform the way the first floor functions.

We love this stage of a project, when the drawings start becoming real and you can finally stand inside the spaces we’ve been imagining on paper.

When the building across the street steals the view 😍

We had the most spectacular view from our rooftop brunch in Midtown: the former Hotel York at 488 Seventh Avenue, designed by Harry B. Mulliken and completed in 1903.

Red brick, limestone, carved urns, garlands, grotesques, iron balconies—and absolutely no fear of ornament. This is Beaux-Arts architecture doing the most, in the best possible way.

And because New York buildings always have another story: in 1968, a young Calvin Klein reportedly used a room here to show his first collection of just nine designs.

Sometimes the best part of looking at the skyline is remembering to look straight across the street.

This week on site, the new floor system is taking shape, creating the platform for a seamless expansion that will soon transform how this family lives in their home. While it may not look glamorous yet, these are the moments where good architecture and quality craftsmanship come together.

The Self Studio was reimagined from an existing commercial storefront into a peaceful wellness destination. Every architectural decision—from the arched niches and warm material palette to the accessible layouts and refined detailing—was designed to support the experience of slowing down, connecting, and healing.

When old and new speak the same architectural language.🖤

One of my favorite architectural relationships in Westchester is the conversation between the Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library and the neighboring Municipal Building.

Designed by William Switzer and dedicated in 1966, the library never tries to compete with its historic neighbor. Instead, it draws inspiration from the Municipal Building’s classical proportions and rhythmic colonnade—reinterpreting those ideas through a clean, modern vocabulary.

I love how the library speaks the same architectural language, but with a distinctly contemporary voice.

The neighboring Municipal Building, completed in 1929 and designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon—the architects behind the Empire State Building—provides a beautiful example of civic architecture rooted in classical tradition.

Beyond the architecture, the library offers one of Westchester’s most beautiful public reading terraces overlooking the Hudson River and the Palisades. It’s a reminder that the best civic buildings don’t simply house public functions—they create places where people gather, learn, reflect, and connect.

Designing for community means honoring history while confidently looking forward.

* Prepare architectural drawings and permit sets using AutoCAD
* Develop design concepts and client presentations

* Manage projects from design through construction

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
* 2–3 years of professional experience preferred
* Strong AutoCAD proficiency
* Experience preparing construction documents
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Familiarity with New York building codes and permitting is a plus
