a pic from the farm, the flower seminar and my flower delivery business. A big thanks to everyone. We can support each other, and let me know about home bound elders who need a small bouquet to keep up their spirits in the close NSB area. Thanks to all who supported the St Peters Flower Seminar and stay well!

In case you missed the Flower Show at St. Peter's here is our rendition of an Easter Egg Tree. Brown eggs, gold gilt, flowering quince, tulips and anemone.

Absolutely simple and gorgeous on your mantel, entry room or dining room table. Or have fun with your children and let them paint or color the eggs. I still have some my son colored back in the day. If you don't have access to blooming branches, plain ones , either left natural or painted make a fine tree as well. A friend of mine just painted one a brilliant lime green, lots of fun in her Florida home, so don't be timid, they are just sticks after all.

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter and wonderful Passover, and just a lovely Spring. I am grateful to all and thank you for supporting local agriculture and businesses.

It's that time of year again. The St Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church 9th Annual Flower Guild Workshop is Friday February 24, 2017. This year promises to be the best program yet.

The theme this year is Soul in Balance with the designs exploring the ways flowers and gardens restore our lives and souls. The sanctuary flower designs this year can easily translate to commercial wedding work for the florists who join us. The home scale ideas range from super easy to complex and will appeal to all skill levels. Many of the arrangements use our signature local greens and flora, encouraging use of our gardens for plant materials rather than the supermarket. But don't worry, we have also ordered some fun new cultivars of many flowers to share. There will be lovely plants and interesting containers to give you encouragement to brighten up your gardens and patios this spring. As requested in the past we will have some of the supplies used in the designs available for sale for those who do not buy in bulk. And of course the wonderful light brunch to start the morning. Brunch begins at 9AM with the program promptly at 9:30. Cost is only $35 with all proceeds benefiting St. Peter's Flower Guild. Call the church at 386 428 7383 to make a reservation or mail a check to St. Peter's at 4220 Saxon Dr. New Smyrna Beach Florida 32169. If you have any questions please email me at [email protected] I hope to see you there!

We have so many wonderful flowers that naturalize here in central Florida and are also great presents to give this time of year. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, plenty of reasons to celebrate this season!

Though our warm climate doesn’t lend successful cultivation of tulips and daffodils, we do have many bulbs and corms that do well here in Florida. Amaryllis, calla lilies, alstromeria and paper whites all make wonderful gifts.

Give pre-planted in pots or wrap the bulbs in colorful bags with a cheerful bow. And with minimal care these flowers will reproduce and naturalize in our area. And other than the odd grasshopper, these plants are virtually pest free, require no pesticides and only semi annual fertilization.

So before you bring over that ordinary bottle of wine, bring the gift of flowers to friends and family this holiday season.
