Read this before you put your plants outside for the summer!
Before ANYTHING, make sure that the weather stays consistently above at least 50 degrees (research your specific plant to see if requires to be more generous)
Now, any indoor plants can be brought outdoors (they did come from there) & there are benefits: bringing plants outdoors improve their health, better their appearances, they will grow faster, reward you with better foliage, and some plants will even flower!
But there are drawbacks like watering more often, finding spots that won’t toast the plants, and bringing them back indoors requires work (which we will cover in another post)

Here are tips on how to bring plants outdoors without killing them:
1. pick a shady spot for your plant to sit in for the next 2 weeks. Reason being, indoor plants are not used to raw & intense sunlight. So we need to let them acclimate slowly. Its like when you just wake up and look at your phone, if the brightness is at max, your eyes WILL HURT. Same goes with indoor plants.
2. After your plants have been in the shade for a couple of weeks, it’s time to let em have it ;) Research what kind of outdoor lighting your plant prefers, don't go putting shade plants in direct sunlight!
- If it’s a shade plant, leave it under any shady area.
- If it can handle indirect light, then putting it under a porch/Pergola, awning or umbrella, or DIY your shade cloth would be good.
-If your plant can handle direct light, then put it in any sunny spot but keep in mind to water more often and let the plant adjust in indirect lighting before introducing it to direct light! Also, after a plant has grown in direct light for a while- bringing them back indoors will require some work!
Now is a great time to bring plants outdoors if you've planned to. Before you do, please check the temperature of your location and make sure it is consistently over 50 degrees (even at night!!!) or else you will wake up to a bunch of dead plants!!
