Located in Boston's Seaport District, 400 Summer Street is a 17-story commercial building featuring three panelized brick-clad façades with extruded aluminum windows. The fourth façade is a glazed curtain wall system that cuts into the building's volume to allow for abundant natural light. The curtain wall also creates a dialogue with 350 Summer Street—the adjacent MA building that will similarly feature one curtain wall and three brick facades. as well as the Summer Steps—a series of tiered public plazas will run along the entire length of the two new structures.

Comprised of four commercial buildings centered around an intimate urban square, Rye Street Market will serve as the public face and heart of the new master-planned Baltimore Peninsula neighborhood currently under construction. Located in the heart of Little Italy, The Grand Mulberry is a boutique condominium building imbued inside and out with fresh, modern interpretations of traditional Italian craftsmanship. Kitchens feature Italian cream lacquered cabinetry and appliance overlays, marble counters, scalloped tile backsplashes, and custom brass fixtures. Baths feature terrazzo flooring, stacked mosaic tile, and custom Italian vanities with recessed brass pulls.

Related Midwest has unveiled the official name and new renderings of The Row Fulton Market, the 43-story, 300-unit residential high-rise MA designed on North Peoria in Chicago, IL.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As one of the city's first 80/20 buildings–created under recently passed Affordable Illinois legislation–The Row will set aside 20% of residences, or 60 apartments, as affordable, pioneering a new model for inclusive development.

“For the design of The Row, we wanted to reinterpret recognizable industrial motifs that relate to Chicago’s larger context while seamlessly responding to the historic texture and scale of the beloved Fulton Market neighborhood,” said Morris Adjmi, founder and principal of Morris Adjmi Architects. “Preserving the pedestrian experience along Randolph and Peoria streets was extremely important.”

We're excited to announce that MA has been retained to design a new lobby experience within 60 Broad—the 39-story, circa 1963 office tower that houses our NYC-based design practice.

The reimagined space draws wide-ranging inspiration from hotel lobbies, residential amenities, and art galleries to create a compelling environment that will serve the building's community in new and exciting ways.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition to MA's architectural and interior design services, the firm developed the lobby's contemporary art program inspired by the bold gestures of Manhattan's iconic mid-century commercial buildings. The program will feature several site-specific commissions, including a new mural on the building's front bulkhead by Chicago-based artist Cody Hudson, which will be visible from the street through the plate glass of the lobby entrance.

The Pinch, one of Charleston’s newest boutique hotels, offers guests a blend of historic ambiance, modern amenities, and residential comforts. Warm and welcoming, the hotel's overall design takes inspiration from early traditions of craftsmanship that played a large role in creating many of the iconic homes that give the city its charm. While there are subtle variations and unique configurations within each of the 26 suites, they all feature timeless-yet-contemporary furnishings including lush velvet sofas, vintage rugs, custom decor items, full kitchens, Italian marble farmhouse sinks, and hand-painted terracotta Moroccan floor tiles in the bathrooms.

We're very proud to see covered in . The 266,000-square-foot condo building, currently under construction in Greenpoint, places two towers atop a long, linear narrow footprint to form a nautical shape, like a ship with two smoke stacks.

“This project is a deep dive into understanding the neighborhood, the anonymous builders of its warehouses, its nautical heritage and the many industries that supported the boat-building business,” Morris Adjmi explains. “Those two towers refer to history, but they also mean that there are far more units with views in the building.”

The two-tower massing effectively doubled the number of The Huron's corner units and penthouses. It also created a wonderful array of shared and private exterior spaces.

639 South La Brea Avenue has been cleared for the construction of MA's first project to be built in Los Angeles—an 8-story, approximately 300,000-square-foot mixed-use development featuring a blend of hospitality and multifamily programming. Located directly north of the new Wilshire/La Brea subway station currently under construction, the project is utilizing transit-oriented development incentives to increase density, adding 125 hotel rooms and 121 residences to the neighborhood—a portion of which will be set aside as subsidized affordable housing. The project will also feature 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and below-grade parking spaces. Construction is scheduled to break ground in 2023, with completion anticipated in 2025.

Construction is officially underway at ROOST Charleston. Occupying a stretch of historic King Street, the 50-unit boutique concept will be the city’s first high-design, extended-stay hotel.

Spread across 52,700 square feet, the BAR-approved building will encompass a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment hotel units, 27,000 square feet of rentable space, a lush interior courtyard lined with balconies, and a rooftop lounge crowing the property.

Slated for completion in 2024, the development will be the second collaboration between MA and Method Co. to open its doors in Charleston.

Excavation and foundation work are in full swing at 360 Bowery, the site of a new 22-story commercial building we designed in Noho. Standing taller than most nearby structures, the office tower’s tiered volume subtly twists, drawing reference to the different scales within its historic urban-industrial context while also responding to the neighborhood’s newer additions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Designed to maximize views, 360 Bowery's façade is essentially a field of openings. The custom, high-performance unitized curtain wall system features dark gray painted aluminum frames and blush-colored GFRC spandrel panels in a fluted pattern that gets tighter as it moves up the building. Single-pane windows, measuring roughly 5’x10’, are inset within 10” metal fins. These deep, dark frames add a layer of shadows, further articulating the façade. As a lighter counterpoint, the building's corners are open and airy with a structural joint hidden behind the glass.
