My path into interior design is not your typical story.

Many of you probably don’t know how many lives I’ve lived before landing in the space I’m in today, so I decided it was time to share a little more of that story.

The full post is live now on Substack, link in bio.

Leathered Avocatus quartzite became the anchor of the space, wrapping the tub, vanity, and backsplash in deep green, organic movement that feels both dramatic and timeless.

From the solid unlacquered brass tub surround to the checkerboard marble floors, warm cabinetry, and antique pieces layered throughout, every material was chosen to feel collected, substantial, and a little unexpected.

Today I’m sourcing slabs for a client’s kitchen renovation project, and I always love any excuse to spend time at the stone yard. I only use natural stone because no two slabs are ever exactly the same. The movement, texture, veining, and variation are what make it feel so beautiful and timeless. These quartzite slabs have that rich, earthy depth I love, and in a leathered finish, it becomes even more textural and organic.

A bedroom designed to feel moody, layered, and collected over time.

When I was designing this room, I kept coming back to the way it would be experienced through the doorway. That first glimpse of the landscape mural, the sculptural bed, and the details beyond. I love when a room creates that kind of quiet curiosity, where a single view makes you want to walk in and see more.

This space has that old-world, atmospheric quality I’m always drawn to. Transportive, timeless, and filled with pieces that give the room a sense of wonder. Photos by Michael Blevins

Unboxing a very special antique piece from FirstDibs today - this large Italian fountain element of Bacchus dates back to the early 20th century and I can’t wait to see it come to life in this primary bathroom design. I wanted something really grand and dramatic for the bathtub filler and I don’t think it gets more dramatic than an antique Italian fountain piece. Stay tuned for more!

Thank you Los Angeles Times for including me in this conversation on what makes a home feel timeless, personal, and collected. In my world, original and antique pieces will alway be more meaningful than anything mass-produced. Article by Pallavi Mehra ✨
