A sophisticated ‘sense of the new’ is evident in the firm’s current work: a kinetic rain-screen facade

being designed for a building in Chennai, a custom modular home in Beverly Hills, and a 264 unit condominium project in Sunny Isles, Florida, with lobbies designed by Karl Lagerfeld. The firm’s design that remade a former women’s prison in Manhattan into the Women’s Building, a center for the global women’s and girls rights movement, was one of thirteen finalists in the 2016 competition. A deep interest in contemporary art informs all work from high-end interiors to architecture. In all areas of architecture and design, Reddymade’s philosophy of pushing for design breakthroughs – both formal and expressive – remains more steadfast than ever.

“Even the muscular Rigid apparatus has a light, greenhouse feel.” — Justin Davidson, architecture critic at New York Magazine’s .

This week, Davidson spent time beneath the two new sidewalk shed prototypes now installed at Broadway and Chambers Street. Designed with Arup in the Americas and KNE studio for the NYC Department of Buildings, the Flex Shed and Rigid Shed bring light, air, and openness back to one of the city’s most shared spaces. Clear polycarbonate and open grating let the sun through, keeping the street and storefronts bright while still protecting pedestrians overhead.

A holiday retreat transformed into a permanent home. Tilting Rock is a Japanese-style mid-century house on the Rhode Island shoreline, expanded to meet a new chapter of life. A torqued tower addition houses workspaces, a yoga room, and a rooftop deck with 360-degree views of the Atlantic. Where the two structures meet, a glass mudroom opens directly to the ocean, with the landscape views intact throughtout.

The DOB’s initiative to improve pedestrian experience by sponsoring new designs for scaffolding sets a visionary and innovative standard for our civic life , and I am excited to be part of the design team bringing this radical transformation to the streets of New York led by alongside my longtime friend and colleague .Erickson of KNE_Studio_architecture.

Our team has created new designs for the ubiquitous scaffolding we traverse everyday , transforming a dark tunnel like experience to one of spaciousness light and color, while maintaining safety standards. From translucent ceilings on the FLEX shed to bright color on the RIGID shed , being on the streets of our city under these structures will be a whole new feeling. and as we always say at Reddymade, form should follow feeling.

New York has more than 7,600 sidewalk sheds. They keep us safe when a facade needs repair, but the design has barely changed since 1974, blocking the light and leaving the sidewalk dark and narrow.

The sidewalk is the most shared space in the city. Safety does not have to mean darkness. It can come with light, air, and space.

As part of a citywide initiative led by NYC Department of Buildings, we worked with , KNE studio, and Core Scaffold Systems Inc. to reimagine it. Designed by , the new sheds bring open circulation, better light, and flexibility for any site, all while keeping pedestrians safe.

The Flex Shed and the Rigid Shed are on view at the Department of Buildings in Lower Manhattan for 30 days. A better walk, for everyone who shares the street.

Named Jäälyhty, Finnish for “ice lantern,” our proposal for the Guggenheim Helsinki competition reimagines the modern museum as a multifaceted public center. Not a singular grand gesture, but a sum of linked forms, each with its own unique voice, collectively resonating with the city’s harbor, historic skyline, park, and sea.

Drawing on Finland’s deep connection between architecture and nature, we worked with water, wood, stone, and metal as a language of resonance and reflection.

7,000 yellow pinwheels across the former rose garden of Prospect Park 🌼

Commissioned by the Prospect Park Alliance to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2017, we designed this temporary installation to bring new life to three long-defunct pools.

Made from an innovative paper composed of stone dust and mounted on reflective supports, the pinwheels were fully compostable. At the close of the installation, visitors were invited to take them home, extending the work far beyond the park itself.
