The entryway is the “handshake” of your home. It’s the first thing you see when you walk in and the last thing you see before you leave.

As a designer, I always prioritize three things in a family entry:

1️⃣ The Catch-all: A tray for keys/mail to stop the “where are my keys?!” morning meltdown.

2️⃣ The Perch: Stools or a bench for the shoe-on, shoe-off transition (essential for kids and guests alike!).

3️⃣ The Reflection: A mirror to bounce light and offer that final “teeth check” before heading out.

Function doesn’t have to sacrifice style. How does your entryway greet you?

Elegant simplicity, turning a chaotic, multi-use space into a peaceful destination.

It’s always a joy to transform a space that’s seen it all! This dining area was previously pulling double (or triple!) duty as a catch-all for bikes, blankets, and playtime.

By reimagining the room, we created a serene, family-centered dining area that feels like its own destination.

Same footprint. Entirely different energy.

Proof that you don’t need more space, you just need better design. We took this area from “utility room vibes” to a sophisticated “anchor” for the whole family.

Most people see a small or low-lit room and reach for the white paint. We did the opposite. By leaning into this deep, moody denim blue we didn’t just change the color, we changed the entire soul of the room.

Swipe to see where we started! ➡️ From a cluttered “extra room” to a curated lounge that feels like a warm hug.

Key Design Elements:

Contrast: Balancing the dark walls with a plush, neutral sofa.

Texture: Burl wood coffee tables and burnt orange accents for warmth.

Lighting: Layered lighting to keep the mood cozy, not gloomy.

Call to Action: Ready to ditch the “safe” beige and find your home’s personality? Let’s talk. Link in bio to book a consultation. 🥂

Semi open concept. Sometimes closing off a kitchen can make it feel like a utility room. By tearing down the wall, we invited the kitchen into the dining space. And added in some cool colors to make the room feel wider

✨ Small Kitchen, Big Energy ✨

Think you need massive square footage for a dream kitchen? Think again! Small kitchens are all about strategic choices. I’m breaking down how we made this space feel airy, open, and intentional.

The Power of Cool Tones

Notice the soft gray cabinetry? Using cool colors (like grays, light blues, or cool whites) is a classic designer “cheat code.” Cool tones are recessive, meaning they visually move away from the eye. This makes the walls and cabinets feel like they are pushing back, instantly making the room feel wider than it actually is.

💡 Pro-Tips for Maximizing Space:

Integrated Light & Reflection: That stunning starburst backsplash isn’t just pretty, the metallic gold accents and polished white marble reflect light across the room. More light = more perceived space!

Clear the Visual Clutter: We used a glass-front corner cabinet to showcase beautiful stoneware. This adds depth because your eye travels into the cabinet rather than stopping at a solid door.

Keep the Flow: Using an island with open-back “Wishbone” stools (like the ones pictured!) keeps the sightlines clear. Heavy, solid chairs would have made the peninsula feel like a wall.

The “Luxury” in the Details: In a small space, every detail is noticed. We leveled up this kitchen with brushed gold hardware and a matching gooseneck faucet to provide a high-end, cohesive feel.

Designer Secret: If you have a small kitchen, don’t be afraid of patterns! The geometric wood cutting board and the backsplash add “texture” without adding “bulk.”

Design is in the details, but communication is in the call-outs.

When I present a design like this to a client, I’m not just showing them a pretty kitchen. I’m showing them a curated ecosystem of materials. Why is it so important to call out every detail from the Brushed Brass Hardware to the Geometric Backsplash?

For the Client: It builds confidence. They can see exactly how the warmth of the Wood Grain Elements balances the cool tones of the Shaker-Style Cabinets.

For the Contractor: Precision is everything. Specifying “Brushed Gold” vs. “Polished Brass” ensures the vision we fell in love with is the vision that gets installed.

In design, if you don’t sweat the small stuff, the big picture never quite clicks.
