I had the chance to talk about the importance of mentoring younger generations, both young men and women, and encouraging them to follow their dreams of becoming architects. I was especially proud to highlight my college intern, Satish Doobay, who is now a third-year student at NYIT City Campus.

I’m truly honored and grateful to have been recognized at the 2nd Annual Queens of Construction event last week.

Thank you to the IIBEC Metro NY Chapter and the Queens & Bronx Building Association (QBBA) for celebrating and uplifting the incredible women shaping the design and construction industry today. It was an inspiring evening surrounded by talented professionals, from property managers and operators to architects and engineers, all coming together to connect, share, and support one another.

A special thank you to Kelly Greenfield of H2M Architects + Engineers for the nomination, and to Vanessa L. Gibson, Bronx Borough President, for her motivating words.

The event, held at the beautiful Renaissance Hall in Astoria, was a wonderful reminder of the power of community and collaboration. Congratulations to all of the 2026 honorees, it was a privilege to celebrate alongside you.

Looking forward to continuing to grow, connect, and contribute to this amazing industry.

Last week, I had the incredible honor of being featured in Latinas in Architecture, Volume III at the Built by Her: Stories of Remarkable Latinas in Architecture event.

This evening was so much more than a book launch - it was a powerful celebration of resilience, representation, and the voices of Latinas shaping the built environment. Each of us shared a unique journey, and I am truly humbled to stand alongside such an inspiring group of women.

As Latinas represent only about 1% of licensed architects, I am especially proud to be part of a movement that is working to grow that number while inspiring and uplifting the next generation of females to pursue careers in this field.

Thank you to the AIANY Women in Architecture Committee, Rosalind Tsang, Graciela Carrillo for moderating, Alicia Ponce for making this book possible, and Carol Wedge, AIA for your support.
I’m also so thankful to share this experience with fellow panelists Elizabeth Pacheco, Angie Arent, Natasha Espada, and all of the co-authors.
Feeling proud, grateful, and inspired to keep pushing forward.

Honored to hear the inspiring words of Michael Dowling, CEO Emeritus of Northwell Health, whose leadership as President and CEO for nearly 24 years has left a lasting impact on healthcare. As an immigrant from Ireland, his journey is a powerful reminder of how resilience, opportunity, and purpose-driven leadership shape stronger communities.

A special thank you as well to Robert S. Tucker, Chairman and CEO of T&M USA and former FDNY Commissioner, for his continued dedication to New York and his call for leaders to invest in the firehouses and public safety infrastructure our growing communities need.

Grateful to the Chamber of Commerce for bringing our community together and creating space for these important conversations.

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of women everywhere.

At JMV Architect and JMV Associates, we proudly recognize the women in our office and across the AEC industry but our gratitude extends far beyond our profession.

We honor the women who build our cities, lead our communities, raise families, care for others, and perform the everyday work that keeps the world moving forward.

International Women’s Day reminds us of the courage and determination of the women who fought for equality and the progress we continue to strive for today.

To the women in our workplace, our industry, and every corner of society, thank you for all that you do.

Happy Women’s Month!
