Travel + Leisure positions the Global Vision Awards around sustainable and responsible travel, and says honorees are chosen for leadership, creative problem-solving, and quantifiable steps to protect communities and environments.

March ended on a high note for us at Lepogo Lodges. We’re delighted to share that we’ve been awarded a Global Vision Award by Travel + Leisure, a truly prestigious recognition that celebrates impactful, sustainable travel across the world.

What makes this even more meaningful is who we are at our core. As a non for profit lodge, conservation isn’t just part of the story… it is the story. Every guest experience directly supports conservation enabling us to support great organisations like the African Pangolin Working Group, who are doing essential work to protect one of the world’s most vulnerable species.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey with us!

At This Sustainably-Minded Safari Lodge in South Africa, Wild Luxury Has a Light Footprint

At Melote House, a new retreat in the Lepogo Lodges stable, there’s a different kind of luxury at play: the knowledge that your presence will leave no impact on the local wildlife.

Set within the vast landscapes of South Africa, our project is designed as a respectful dialogue between architecture and nature. Surrounded by the rhythms of the savanna and the life of the game reserve, the project celebrates coexistence — between people, wildlife, and the environment that sustains them.

Every element of the lodge is conceived to tread lightly: structures are nestled into the landform, materials are locally sourced, and energy systems are guided by self-sufficiency. The result is not only a destination for travelers, but a living expression of ecological stewardship and design integrity.

Here, the boundary between built form and wilderness fades — revealing a place where conservation, culture, and comfort meet in balance.
