Whether we are updating historic structures or designing new schools, we seamlessly integrate traditional and modern tech

nologies to create environments that are innovative and flexible, fostering engagement and collaboration. Cultural and environmental factors continue to influence how buildings are restored and designed, particularly as institutions adapt to more flexible arrangements. The lasting impact of COVID-19 has reshaped how spaces are used, prompting us to explore new technologies and adaptive strategies that create sustainable, resource-efficient environments that are easy to maintain. We are committed to addressing the evolving needs of urban infrastructure and ensuring that our designs contribute to a better, more resilient city.

Sai Hu and Zarah Durst recently joined artist Yuke Li in bringing the final mural design to life as part of the 2026 SBS Murals Project in Astoria, Queens.

Selected as one of five finalists, Yuke’s mural is part of a larger public art initiative led by the 31st Ave Open Street Collective in partnership with the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and NYC DOT transforming public space through community-driven art and neighborhood collaboration.

It was an exciting opportunity for our team to step outside the office and support a project that celebrates creativity, culture, and the vibrancy of New York City communities.

Construction is progressing at Brooklyn Prospect High School’s new Downtown Brooklyn campus. This view captures work underway in the full-size gymnasium, one of several key spaces taking shape within the three-floor “building within a building.”

With construction underway since October, the team is focused on delivering a dynamic learning environment designed to support 1,200 students, on track for a Fall 2026 opening.

When The White House ballroom renderings were released, we looked beyond the headlines for a clearer architectural narrative. Instead, we found something unexpected: silence.

In a profession rooted in public impact, architects have a responsibility not just to design—but to engage.

To explain. To listen. When that dialogue disappears, so does trust.

It’s our duty to be transparent about what we do and why we do it.

The Loci team visited Pratt Institute this week for a tour of their Assembly Loop Lab (ALL), a state-of-the-art fabrication facility that empowers creatives with advanced technology, expert guidance, and production resources to bring ideas to life.

ALL supports artists, architects, designers, entrepreneurs, and businesses with high-quality fabrication that is both accessible and affordable. We also explored their 3D printing facilities and received a crash course in campus AI tools tailored for student learning.

It was a fantastic tour, and we left buzzing with ideas, even brainstorming on the subway ride back about how we might integrate some of these tools and outputs into our future projects.

Inspiring space, inspiring people. Thanks, Pratt!

Loci celebrated Thanksgiving dinner with a fantastic evening at Family Meal at Blue Hill. A menu-less, locally sourced, seasonal dining experience in NYC. This was our second visit, and it’s safe to say it remains highly recommended.

We enjoyed an incredible four-course farm-to-table meal, the perfect setting to connect as a team, share good conversation, and savor truly exceptional food.

And because it’s New York… we even spotted Benedict Cumberbatch on our way out. Never a dull moment in this city!

Grateful for good food, good company, and moments like these. 🍽️🧡🌾
