Our apartment is going to be featured on !!! When I got this email, I couldn’t contain my excitement and was literally jumping up and down. I remember telling a few people that we had been working really hard on our apartment and that my goal was to make it worthy of being featured on a design blog. I am so incredibly grateful to be getting some exposure and recognition for what we’ve created. Thank you and for taking those great pictures that gave me the confidence to share them. 💛💛💛

What a transformation! The primary colors in this Melissa and Doug magnetic chalkboard set was a huge eyesore when displayed in this living room. I originally repainted it the same shade of grey as the kitchen cupboard but the grey trim against the black chalkboard looked too masculine for the look I was going for. These magnets were not in great shape so I considered tossing them before deciding to paint them in pastel colors and I’m so glad I did! I wanted to make an art supply container out of recycled materials so I used this empty cashew container. A little Goo Gone to remove the label, plastic paint primer, and the leftover pink paint and we’ve got ourselves a very cute (and free) toddler-safe storage container.

I’m very pleased with how this kitchen storage project turned out. For this family, the ample kitchen counter space allowed them to access all of their daily essentials while also becoming a dumping ground for other random items that didn’t have a proper place. The counter tops looked and felt quite cluttered, the charging cord for the iPad used as a baby monitor at the end of the counter was a tripping hazard, and it was hard to keep track of which drinking glasses were old or currently in use. I decided to use this rustic cabinet I found that could rest on the counter top since this family rents and wanted to avoid unnecessary nail and screw holes. A little wood filler and a few coats of paint gave it the perfect facelift it needed to fit the modern style of their kitchen. I took the back panels off to allow for air flow and grand access to the electrical outlet. Their baby bottle drying rack fit perfectly on the shelf but the flower accessories used to dry pacifiers didn’t quite fit so I decided to make a little bouquet and put them together in a vase on the side. Sticky hooks on the side of the cabinet were a great solution for drying and storing their bibs and placemats and they won’t cause any unnecessary damage to the cabinet if they decide to repurpose it in the future. A simple tray on the counter to place random objects (for this case, it was the in-use drinking glasses) can make a space feel so much more organized. I used the leftover paint from the cabinet to revamp the tray from their Melissa and Doug music set to place the in-use drinking glasses. These little improvements have made a world of a difference and now every item has a home.
