TM is a multi-hyphenate design studio operating at the intersection of architecture, interior, and lighting design, where the boundaries between disciplines dissolve to reveal new ways of seeing and making space.

They say necessity is the mother of invention. For TM, it was simply an aversion to overhead lighting.

Asymmetric in form, The Wedge is placed corner-down in front of the light source, its matte white surface washing the wall behind it in a soft, diffuse glow.

At the OCA Museum museum, each zone is calibrated to serve the work on display. From the expansive double-height main gallery with its scalloped, indirectly illuminated ceiling, to the intimate 9-foot single-height spaces finished with recessed track lighting, the building shifts in scale while the lighting shifts with it.

This Western Massachusetts residence maintains a dualistic relationship with the lake against which it is nestled. From the street, it is abstract in form, showing no aperture or puncture.

Inside, two spatial orientations emerge. Horizontal spaces are characterized by neutral tone and materiality, defined by the sleeves looking out to the lake. Vertical spaces introduce hard material cuts with stacked plywood at the entry vestibule, hot-rolled steel in the kitchen, rusted steel at the stairs, each aligned with a skylight aperture above. Moving through the home, these vertical moments provide a cinematic interruption to the otherwise continuous flow of space.

Every consumer experience is shaped by the environment in which it takes place, and no project makes that clearer than TM and ’s work with .co. TM worked towards a fundamental juxtaposition: to take something once sold in dark, low-lit spaces and bring it to the light. The lighting design destigmatizes what was once forbidden, creating a soft, calm, and welcoming environment that alters the whole experience of cannabis purchase.

This is what TM does at its core; approaching each project through the lens of its specific brand and consumer base, and understanding that light is not a finishing touch but the primary tool through which an experience is constructed. It is one of the first decisions, and the most consequential one.

Scaffolding reimagined as sculpture. For the flagship facade, TM’s goal was to dissolve the boundary between construction and architecture through light. Doing so by layering to create something graphic by day, and open with depth and dimension after dark.

A building designed around the full spectrum of wellness: physical, mental, and spiritual.

Adjacent to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the is a museum-quality office building challenged to be both site-responsive and visionary. proposed curvilinear weathered brass forms resting on a native stone base, inspired by the Ozark forest and karst landscape. TM’s lighting is integral to expressing those gestures. The giraffe stone base is gently uplighted, drawing out its rich texture and grounding the building in its natural context, while the brass canopy is left deliberately unlit, allowing its materiality to remain visually uninterrupted.

The replica comes before the reality. For this upcoming office project, TM constructed full models of the private work “vessels” in their own studio to understand both form and how material, light, and acoustics would settle within the space before a single element is built.

More to come.

Orientation determined the materials for this lake house in Western Massachusetts, where spatial shifts drive distinct changes in experience throughout the home. From the street, it reads as a singular, abstract timber volume; as it turns toward the lake, it opens through carved sleeves that extend interior space outward.

Horizontally oriented rooms remain quiet and neutral, shaped by tone and framed views to the water. Vertical moments interrupt that continuity with sharper material transitions—stacked plywood, hot-rolled steel, and rusted steel aligned with skylight apertures—creating a more cinematic sequence that defines place through orientation.

Conceived as a glowing lantern, the Anthony Timberlands Center is designed to draw students into a space where light signals learning and making. Instead of a stark institutional reading, illumination is composed to seep through the timber structure, producing a soft, continuous glow that positions the building as a beacon on the corner of Fayetteville.

Within the heavy timber framework, lighting is integrated into the structural rhythm—inhabiting beams, columns, and junctions so that it feels inseparable from the architecture. Light gathers in the grain of the structure, washing across intersections and openings to reveal the building’s tectonic logic while allowing it to read, at night, as a calm, luminous volume.

Thrilled to share that The Wedge just won Best Floor Lamp at .

Its shape, born from our refusal to put overhead lighting in our office, has quickly become one of our most versatile and innovative creations. We’re working on making this lamp commercially available very soon—stay tuned.
