Today’s site visit: coordinating the final details before move-in.

designed the architecture for this townhouse, and together we developed the material palette, color relationships, and furnishings room by room.

I always love this stage of a project; when the house begins to feel less like a construction site and more like a sequence of spaces, engaging with the exterior and the NYC neighborhood.

Team field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art today to catch Helene Schjerfbeck before the show closes Sunday.

One of us had never been to the Met, so we did a rapid-fire tour of favorites: the Temple of Dendur, American Wing period rooms, the Astor Chinese Garden Court, the Studiolo from the Ducal Palace, the metal stair by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, the Frank Lloyd Wright Room, and this beautiful battleship-gray-and-pomegranate interior.

Always good to step away from the drawing board and remember how much rooms, light, and color can teach us.

Park Avenue duplex, almost done. Silly faces courtesy of of UBG, our trusted contractor for… honestly, we’ve lost count (a dozen+ projects and counting.) It is the second project for this client. Because great teams get invited back. High standards, high floors, low tolerance for boring.
