What a nice surprise to see Tony Hawk featured skating at Andy Kessler Skate Park in a recent New Yorker profile! It was an honor for W to work with Margaret Bracken at NYC Parks to create the first full-sized skate park in Manhattan. Andy Kessler originally designed and built the skatepark using plywood. The park was remodeled in concrete to permanently honor the legacy of his pioneering work.

We are excited to share that the St Pete pier and approach were awarded an Americas Award of Excellence!

W designed the pier approach, which includes a promenade, sculpture in the air by , a market and event space, and acres of public green space. This image highlights the wetland, which serves as habitat for birds and aquatic life as well as a destination for people.

Exciting news…On Saturday 6/4, the USS Constellation Education Center/Inner Harbor water taxi terminal opened its doors! W was the architect on the project - which has taken 22 years to realize!

The building serves as a visitor center and boarding platform for the 1854 warship that is one of the city’s main attractions. The flat roof, with sweeping views of the harbor, will serve as an event rental space.

The ship’s return to the pier and the education center’s opening are part of a wave of activity that promises to draw people to the city’s waterfront.

We are excited the share that the has been named a finalist in the Americas Awards of Excellence program! W designed the pier approach.

The pier and it’s surroundings are a unique public entity, comprising 26 acres of St. Petersburg’s downtown waterfront. Despite opening during the pandemic, the pier has far exceeded any attendance projections, with over 2.5 million visitors annually.

On April 13th, we accepted a honor award! Ana Krejcarek, Barbara Wilks, Steven Handel, and Qi An attended the ceremony and accepted the award. Walter Hood was a key collaborator but was not in attendance.

The Riverline proposes the transformation of the abandoned site of the former DL&W rail corridor into a verdant refuge and opens a successional landscape to the public.
