Depending on the make and model of your car, you may have to bring it in to have a transponder key made. If you are not sure, give us a call and we can check your car against our records, and set an appointment if you need to come in.

If you recover your old transponder keys after your new ones are made, do not be surprised if they do not work. Many manufacturers require that codes for lost keys be erased from the system. However, we can reprogram them.

If you think you need to use a lubricant in your car locks, it is best to use one that is Teflon or silicone based. They do not dry out and do not cause problems with the factory lubricants the manufacturer uses.

We do not recommend using petroleum-based lubricants or graphite in your car locks. Petroleum-based lubricants will dry and cause the lock parts to stick. Graphite mixes with the pre-lubed parts of a car lock making a gummy mess.

Fabricating a replacement key for your car is not always as simple as getting a VIN number and going from there. Our locksmiths really need the code numbers assigned your car by the manufacturer, and obtaining them requires contacting your dealer with proof of ownership.
