I started making sourdough bread in March of 2023. It was a lot of trial and error at first to figure out how to make the perfect loaf. Some were gummy and not cooked all the way through. I tried a different pan and technique and this greatly improved. I had to make adjustments based on my oven, the room temperature, dough temp, and it took time to get familiar with how the dough "should look and feel" at different stages during the process. I tired the classic bread loaf, sandwich bread, sourdough cookies, pie crust, crackers, scones, etc. I have absolutely fallen in love with baking sourdough! I love caring for things and my starter is another thing to care for and it brings so much goodness! Waking up early and being in the kitchen for bread making has been so therapeutic and a source of relaxation for me. It has inspired me to venture out and try new recipes and it just feels great to provide this for my husband and I and to know exactly what ingredients and love went into it. If you are thinking of making sourdough I would encourage you to go for it and not be intimidated by the process! It is a learning curve and takes some patience, but you will get there and be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor! Happy baking!
