The Open-S standard expands with OS40!

Open S alliance has officially announced the expansion of the standard with the OS40 size; the standard now covers excavators from 2 to 75 tons.

This was announced at a press event hosted in the Steelwrist stand during CSPI-EXPO on June 17.

Steelwrist first presented SQ40, the solution that now becomes the OS40 standard, at Bauma in Munich in 2025 and has since actively introduced the solution to the market.

OS40 brings Open-S into the compact excavator segment between 2 and 7 tonnes, a highly important size class in Japan and many other markets.

With OS40 becoming part of the Open-S standard, the benefits of fully automatic work tool changes and open compatibility become available in one of the most important compact excavator segments.

The OS40 solution builds on the SQ40 technology developed by Steelwrist, and it shows how innovation from one company can help move an entire industry forward when it is brought into an open standard. Open-S is the open industry standard for automatic couplers for excavators, owned and managed by the independent Open-S Alliance.

We're launching two new XTR tiltrotator models and introduce our patented SuperProp hydraulics at Svenska Maskinmässan 🦾💚

Svenska Maskinmässan takes place June 4–6 at Solvalla in Stockholm and is Sweden’s largest construction equipment exhibition.

At our stand N:22, you can see the XTR7 and the XTR13 tiltrotator for the first time, building on the launch of the XTR10 at Conexpo in Las Vegas in March.

Together with the already launched XTR2, XTR15, XTR20 and XTR23, we will be showing all seven XTR models at the fair.

It will also be the first time we officially present SuperProp, a new patented hydraulic technology developed for the XTR series.

SuperProp enables all tiltrotator functions, tilt, rotation, gripper, and auxiliary circuit, to work independently of each other.

The system can deliver full flow to tools while maintaining full tiltrotator performance, making it possible to operate powered work tools efficiently without compromising tiltrotator control.

Together with the XTR tiltrotator hardware and the QuantumConnect control system platform, SuperProp completes the technology foundation for Steelwrist’s third-generation tiltrotators.

SuperProp will be available during the third quarter of 2026 from the XTR10 to XTR23 tiltrotator models.

We’re on site visiting one of active projects, where his Volvo EW180 is currently in operation. It’s a great opportunity to see the equipment in action and gain insight into the day-to-day ex*****on behind the work.

In addition to the site visit, we’re collaborating on another project when we’re here. Always good to catch up with Ryan and his dedicated team as we continue pushing things forward.

Attendees took part in both classroom sessions and hands-on training across multiple stations, divided into groups to maximize learning and collaboration.
