Fall cleanup season for me has begun... Gardens In Bloom

Fine gardening clean out by hand. 🖐️ Rakes get tangled in ground cover (Lamium and sweet woodruff), and leaf blowers remove loose mulch.

Sharing two gift ideas for gardeners in your lives… 🪴
Storing my favorite essentials for the season and wanted to share:
Farmers Defense arm sleeves! After wearing them once, I was in love and rotated the three all season… while they don't defend against thorns, they definitely protected against scrapes, cuts, and poison ivy! Super easy to wash.
Sloggers garden shoes. (Fits true to size/ different shoe and boot ankle height options. I prefer the lowest ankle slip-ons) I'm up to five pairs. 🩵💜🥾I wear them everyday for my work and outdoors at home.
🧤Just get them new garden gloves because there's always more lefts than rights at the end of the season. 🙄

Certain re-blooming plants are a huge staple in my gardens…
CATMINT: since I have so much, I start cutting it back now, especially where it has overgrown or overstayed his welcome. When catmint no longer have purple flowers, cutting back spent foliage will encourage a bushier secondary bloom at the end of the season.
 Cutting the large spent Lupine
and columbine stocks will also encourage a secondary bloom cycle.

POST BLOOM PEONY CARE:
After all this New Hampshire, rain, certain perennials are very susceptible to powdery mildew. Be sure to deadhead and remove spent flowers on your peonies. Cut them to a height that they can sustain without a cage for the remainder of the season, and then thin out the green leaf interior of the clump, so to encourage the circulation of air. Do not leave any peony leaf debris in the garden bed, and at first sign of powdery mildew, you can also spray with neem oil organic spray.

🥶FREEZE WATCH! Keep an eye on those temps!

32° (and below) is the tricky temperature that requires protecting seasonal plants.

🪴🌺 Tender annuals / dahlias/ tropicals should be preventatively sheltered tonight.

Helpful tips:
📦window boxes and covered in-ground tender annuals can be protected with cardboard boxes
🪴Large planters can have trash bags placed over them. (staked down)

If it is feasible to move planters into a garage/shed, it is encouraged.

Because: New England. 🙄

My goal is to create a variety of perennial planters that will not only weather the winter safely, but also enhance root growth and plant development for this current season, should you choose to plant this in your garden in the fall.
🌿🌷🌷🌷Planters are like "charm bracelets" of the garden and give you the opportunity to move them around the gardens, so you always have Gardens In Bloom!
🌷🌷These calla lily/hosta/sedum planters do great in late afternoon sunshine or bright light throughout the day.

🌹 The white drift roses are in a HEAVY ceramic planter, and come with the obelisk. They are two years old.

🪴Care instructions on every plant.
