Last week our Designer Ebony Stephenson traveled back to her alma mater Virginia Tech where she was honored by the Virginia Tech College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences with the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award for the Virginia Tech - School of Public and International Affairs (Public and Urban Affairs 2007).

Let there be light!

For our Carriage Hill Kitchen we wanted to make sure to give our clients plenty of light in their new space. We added several layers of light including:

•Can-less LED recessed lights on a dimmer
•Tunable white LED under-cabinet lights with a wireless controller from TASK Lighting & Power
•A linear pendant light over the island
•A new chandelier over the dining room table

We also added (2) TASK Lighting & Power slim angled power strips on the island for ample receptacles and accessibility.

Ok friends, let’s talk storage and accessibility in our “Carriage Hill Kitchen” located in the seaside town of Poquoson, VA.

For this project we used a 2 toned color combo of Bianco and Midnight in the Park Place full overlay door style from Green Forest Cabinetry, Inc.

Our clients needed lots of accessible storage in their new kitchen so we included key features like:

-Roll out shelves
-A super lazy susan in the corner with 2 wood trays
-A double pull-out waste basket cabinet
-Two separate spice pullouts
-A corner easy reach wall cabinet
-A deep wall cabinet over the refrigerator with a 24” deep adjustable shelf

On the island we did a 12” deep base cabinet with full height doors and adjustable shelves as well as an 18” deep base cabinet with a nice deep drawer on top.

Our clients were so happy with their new spacious kitchen and ample storage space. Thank you to the whole team for making this project come to life!

One of the best parts of a project reveal is seeing the before and after pictures.

Take a peek at our “Carriage Hill Kitchen” in Poquoson to see how we turned a dark and dated closed off kitchen into a bright open space perfect for cooking and congregating.

First, we removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room. Then in the kitchen we added lots of accessible storage solutions, ample countertop space and new appliances including a beverage cooler in the new 7-foot-long island. The new space was equipped with easy to clean quartz countertops, a deep work station sink with a 22” tall commercial style faucet, and LED lights throughout in the form of recessed, undercabinet and pendant lights.

To finish off this project we replaced the floors in the foyer, hallway, 2 pantries, kitchen, dining room, mudroom, and laundry room with waterproof Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT).
