Confession: when I was in high school, I didn’t know what a Realtor was. My parents purchased my childhood home from my godparents directly and HGTV wasn’t around. Ironically my godmother was a Realtor for years and I guess I was in a bubble cause I had no idea what she did all day until years later😂. 

Fast forward, 20+ years later and I love any time the role of a Realtor gets worked into the conversation for high school students. There are so many different industries to choose from and it’s important for students to understand their choices, including a role in real estate. 

For the last few years, I have participated in mock interviews through the economics and personal finance class, presented for meet the professional series, and just last week I had the opportunity to participate in a career fair that saw the highest attendance of vendors ever. These students are smart and ask such great questions.

This week I had an interview with a young man who is considering a move for his real estate home (I like to call them connection meetings instead of interviews, but I digress😆).

As I discussed the benefits of joining Abbitt Realty Co., what it means to be a Realtor and how the associations work, we discussed local trends and how real estate intersects with the local economy but he absolutely lit up when I mentioned the economic reports we receive from Virginia Realtors.

Imagine how much he will enjoy the Legal & Economic Symposium in person on May 28th. I am already signed up and hope all our local Realtors can attend💙
