🛠️ Where History Meets Hard Work!

They just don’t build them like they used to—but they certainly don't restore them like this every day, either. This renovation has been a total labor of love, and I’m sharing a couple interior details that have me swooning.

Here are a couple features that make this home a total standout:

✨ The "Soul" of the House: We preserved much of the original oak woodwork, trims, and casings. The grain and character in this wood are irreplaceable!

✨ Architectural Eye-Candy: We kept the picture rail architectural details along the perimeter and emphasized those gorgeous tall ceilings that make every room feel like a palace.

Stay COZY and keep the water flowing! ❄️🚰

With the temperatures dropping, the last thing anyone wants is a "frozen pipe surprise" (and the expensive repair bill that comes with it). A little prep goes a long way in keeping your plumbing happy through the winter.

Here are a few quick and easy tips to prevent frozen pipes:

🏠 Inside the House

Let it Drip: On those extra-cold nights, let a thin trickle of water run from the faucet furthest from your main water line. Moving water is much harder to freeze!

Open the Cabinets: Keep kitchen and bathroom vanity doors open. This allows the warm air from your home to circulate around the pipes under the sink.

Keep the Heat Consistent: Now isn’t the time to be a thermostat hero. Keep your heat set to at least 13°C (55°F), even if you’re heading out of town.

🛠️ Maintenance & Prep

Insulate the Vulnerable: Use foam pipe sleeves or heat tape on pipes in unheated areas like the garage, attic, or crawl space.

Seal the Drafts: Check for air leaks around dryer vents or electrical wiring and use caulk or insulation to keep the cold air out.

🚿 Outside the Home

Disconnect Hoses: Detach, drain, and store your garden hoses.

Shut Off Outdoor Valves: If you have a separate shut-off for outdoor faucets, turn it off and drain the line completely.

⚠️ Think you already have a frozen pipe? If you turn on the tap and only a trickle comes out, leave the faucet open and call a professional. Never use a blowtorch or open flame to thaw a pipe!

What a privilege to be tired from the work you once begged for 🏠

Building our real estate flipping business and expanding our rental portfolio has truly tested us, challenged us, and at times, left us feeling overwhelmed. Yet, every morning as we wake up at home and enjoy slow, precious moments with our kids, we’re gently reminded that this is the life we always dreamed of.

It’s the growth we've yearned for, and honestly, the journey of crafting a dream we didn't realize we had the courage to pursue.

We are deeply grateful for every challenge that this past year of our lives has presented, and for each person who walks alongside us, supporting us through it all 🙌
