Let’s Make Garlic Scape Salt!
I followed ‘s recipe for this. Check my TikTok reposts for her video.

Ingredients -
Fresh Garlic Scapes
Salt - I used coarse sea salt

Steps -
* Wash the scapes and cut the “flower” off
* Chop up into smaller pieces and put in food processor
* Run processor until creating a loose paste
* Measure the paste and use a 2:1 ratio with salt
* Mix salt and scapes thoroughly
* Lay out on parchment paper
* Set oven as low as it can go - mine was set to 170 °
* Bake until there is no moisture left - took me about an hour and a half and I stirred it occasionally to break up wet clumps
* Run through food processor one more time
* Then it’s ready to store!

I posted back in January some seeds I was really excited for this year. This last weekend I planted them.

Growing up, my grandparent’s grew popcorn and my favorite part of sleepovers was getting to make homegrown stovetop popcorn. The kernels were petite and light. Almost half the size of a sweet corn kernel. Popcorn plants don’t grown as tall as sweet corn and the ears are much smaller as well.
Grandma saved bacon fat and popped the corn in that. It gives the popcorn a salty slightly smoky flavor. (Tastes nothing like bacon)

My popcorn has a slight twist from Grandma and Grandpa’s and comes in the color blue. It doesn’t affect the taste and pops white just like traditional popcorn. I just love a little extra flare.

Fingers crossed these turn out even after being planted a little late in the season.

I have just a small batch of garlic scapes left. But will have lots of garlic cloves in this late summer!

Celebrate National Gardening Exercise Day by getting your hands in the soil and your body moving.

According to the American Horticultural Therapy Association, “gardening is recognized as a moderate to vigorous form of exercise that can improve physical, psychological, and social well-being.” It’s an amazing way to stay active because it naturally combines three key types of fitness: strength, endurance, and flexibility. From digging and lifting to planting and pruning, every task supports a healthier body.

Just as importantly, gardening nurtures mental health. Time spent outdoors, connecting with nature, and focusing on simple, hands-on work can reduce stress, lift your mood, and create a sense of calm and accomplishment.

Take a break today, step outside, care for your garden and let your garden take care of you!

Garlic is bringing me out of my funk. 🧄

I have been NEGLECTING the garden, bad. I just can’t get myself out there and commit the time it needs to clear weeds, plant everything I still have started in trays and whatever I keep buying from the nursery.

For some reason though, garlic is lighting a fire under my butt. I pulled all of the scapes I had left today and made me realize if I don’t start today, I won’t have any real garden this year. Brandon helped me clear three beds and my goal is to get everything in the ground this week. No excuses.

Garden burnout is real over here but so happy to see our progress today. I’m still undecided what I’m doing with my scapes but I’m giving some to so she can pickle them!

🌷This year’s tulip season is one for the books. I am so grateful for the incredible outpour of support through it all. I quadrupled the amount of tulips I planted from last year and honestly, I’m ready to do it again! Already excited for 2027 tulips.🌷

In the next month I will be pre-ordering my tulips for next year already! It feels like the second the last one is out of the ground, it’s time to start ordering for next year.

I’d love to hear input of what kind of tulips you would like to see. I’ve separated them out into different varieties that I have interest in purchasing. There are still a handful of other shapes available but these interest me the most.

Double Tulips/Peony Tulips - large flowers with lots of petals!
Triumph - more traditional shape
Fringed - the edges are frayed
Parrot - distinct shape almost look wrinkled
Multi-Colored - multiple colors in one bloom
Lily - I think if it as a teacup shape. Very slender with a wide opening. Very cute.

I am changing my wholesale provider of bulbs to someone I have more control over what I am ordering. I’d love to hear colors and shapes that interest you so I can be aware of what you’d like to see when I’m ordering.
