You all are the BEST! We have sincerely enjoyed reconnecting with many of the lovely people that we were fortunate enough to get to meet while we were the stewards of Hortulus Farm. In so doing, we have been refreshed in the heart of the Hortulus vision in the first place, which was to create a space that cultivated deep and lasting conversations, connections, and memories. We are thankful that our time at the farm was fruitful in that way, in connecting us to some wonderful people…YOU! The Hortulus ethos lives on, and we look forward to sharing more very, very soon!

A Statement from the Hortulus Farm Foundation Board:

Earlier this year we shared our desire to find an operating partner who would take what we started here at Hortulus to the next level. We sought innovators who would further the Foundation’s mission, the community’s values, and the farm’s regenerative practices. While we have loved serving our guests and team in this space that we developed together, it is now time to allow a new vision to emerge. The feedback that you provided led to great conversations with many potential partners. Today we would like to advise you that the farm will change hands.

While we are not able to communicate what the future holds, we are grateful to each one of you for helping us create an outdoor experience that brought joy to so many.

To our friends, supporters, and visitors who chose to spend your days with us, trusted us with your horticulture needs, and valued our expertise as you planned your own garden experiences, we are beyond grateful. We will cherish the memories of working alongside you and remember the stories that you shared. As we prepare to close the current chapter, we are grateful that this farm could mean so much to so many of you.

To our incredible neighbors, the Wrightstown Twp Supervisors, and the Heritage Conservancy: thank you for your guidance and support as we reimagined and redeveloped the property from the ground up. Your endorsement and encouragement were invaluable.

Visit Bucks County, you have been essential to the success of each of our events, helping us draw crowds from across the area and beyond. Thank you for all you do to establish Bucks County as a destination.

The Hortulus Foundation will remain active, continuing to invest in charitable projects. While we will no longer be actively monitoring farm communication channels, the Foundation members can be reached at [email protected]. Our executive director, Jon Kontz, will continue to serve design clients through Plant Design Group, and can be reached at [email protected].

Thank you to the many community members who shared their ideas with us over the past few days for how the special Hortulus Farm could be used in the future to enhance our community. One thing is certain: this space is truly special and inspiring to many.
Tomorrow we will host our YouTube Live Town Hall meeting, so please share with anyone that you think could be a good fit as an Operating Partner. We will provide information and answer questions submitted in the chat, and ahead of time via email. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Thank you, again, for helping to get the word out. See you tomorrow at 10am!

When Ariel and I purchased Hortulus Farm in 2021, we had a vision for an upscale farm experience that would foster community. Now that we have established a firm foundation, we look forward to new growth in support of that vision.

We love serving our guests, our team, the mission, and the space we have developed together. While we plan to continue to lead the operations of the Foundation that directly invest in the community through non profit investment and development, we are seeking a new operating partner who will bring renewed ideas, resources, and energy to the day-to-day operations of the on-farm experience.

Stepping away from a public-facing role, especially considering all of the amazing relationships that we have developed with you, our community, over these past few years, is never an easy decision, but we are confident that finding the right partner will propel us into the next phase of the farm’s development. We are excited for new businesses to emerge, for new relationships to form, and for new programs that will benefit you, our beloved community.

Because our community is at the heart of our mission, we would like to invite you all to be a part of the process. We want to know what you would like to see on the farm, and we would love it if you could help us find the right partner.

We will be hosting a virtual Town Hall meeting Tuesday, January 23 at 10 a.m. We will make the youtube live link, along with other pertinent information, available on our website, https://www.hortulusfarm.com/partnership-opportunity. During the Town Hall, we will provide an overview of the farm’s progress to date, outline our qualifications for an operating partner, describe some of the resources available to the new partner(s) and outline our Request for Proposal process.

If you have any questions that you would like me to address at the Town Hall, please e-mail [email protected]. Thank you for supporting us in this new season.

We are so grateful for everyone who made this year a true success.

Thank you for all the ways you make possible the impact of the Hortulus Farm Foundation.

This year we have
-Facilitated 70,000 guest hours spent in nature making memories
-Connected 250 local artists, farmers and makers with their community
-Launched the first two spaces within the botanical play garden, a natural play space designed to engage and develop young minds.

And last but not least, sponsored 100 people experiencing financial and/or familial hardship to spend time in our Santa’s Village Experience. Among them were community members in difficult situations, those experiencing abandonment, loss of employment, and those who lost loved ones, including in the line of duty serving their communities. Many sponsorship recipients received them with tears in their eyes and profound gratitude and expressed that the blessing gave them hope for joy again.

One of my favorite stories: One of the families who visited Hortulus this year was burdened by pressing financial needs. A friend of Hortulus heard about it and took it upon themself to raise $1,500 to anonymously assist. It shows the true spirit of Christmas and we are grateful to be part of such a special community.

You are the best part of Christmas at Hortulus, and we wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
