Every year brings new obstacles and challenges. Each seed planted an experiment begun. Every observation, lessons learned and natural growth.

This year’s yield is not what we are used to, though the flowers still showed up to brighten a gray day. They may be small and few but they still deliver a smile when needed.

We will not be opening our gates to the public this year. However, if you wish to take a walk or discover a variety of pollinators that enjoy the mix of the field, message us. We can schedule a visitor’s appointment.

Good Monday morning Kalon friends and neighbors!

This post has been coming for a few days now though I have really wanted to put it off. First, for those who are unfamiliar with our farm, we are not a business. We are a small family run farm, learning to work with the land and will open our gates to the public to share when we are blessed with abundance. It is only through the support of our family, friends and visitors we can continue to improve our farm and share.

Now that you know who we are, status update. Kalon’s Korner loves to show off her inner beauty! However, we work at nature’s mercy and every planting is considered an experiment full of hope for our best results. Unfortunately, this year’s sunflower crop is not producing the yield we were hoping it would. There are a few small plants scattered throughout the field. If we have anything to show it will be scarce and not until August. We are brainstormed to problem solve and hopefully improve next year’s crop.
We will post further updates for those still hoping for something a little different, who knows what we might get.

All that being said we do have blackberries in abundance for You Pick by appointment only. For more information message if interested, there will not be public open gate times for these.

New planter, new adventures. Sunflower seeds have been planted. Now nature takes over and we cross our fingers we have a beautiful crop to share for this year’s Sunfest.🤞🌻

Kalon has faced challenges this planting season that have prevented us from planting our sunflower seeds. We are still working on these and may be able to provide a fall field of sunflowers. Otherwise, we will let the land rest, enjoy the wildflowers and hopefully, see you next year friends and neighbors! Stay safe.

Kalon friends and neighbors we are seeking help with our planting this year. We are in search of new equipment.

In search of a corn/sunflower seed planter. No Till; 2, 3 or 4 row; spacing 24”-36” to be used with a 3 point hitch system and a PTO power of about 50-55 horse power.

Seasons change…. Kalon friends and neighbors, we are planning a new season for Sunfest 2022 - our 6th annual gate opening to the public.
We are a small family farm that shares what beauty nature brings us once a year for a small window of only two three weeks. Each year we have been humbled by the support of family, friends, photographers, neighbors, and travelers in search of something different.
Our mission: To share what nature’s abundance may bless our family with.
Every sunflower is unique. 🌻

Kalon’s Sunfest 2021 brought us lots of challenges but we thank all those who made it out. To those who missed us hopefully you can catch us next season in July 2022.

Sadly the weather does not wish to work in our favor this evening as it seems the rain is here to stay. We will not be opening our gates as a result.

If field conditions maintain and weather cooperates we will try to find another evening to open before the sunflowers are gone. We apologize for inconvenience as Mother Nature tends to have a mind of her own but appreciate those who did reach out about visiting.
