Don’t forget — Daylight Saving Time starts tonight.

Before heading to bed, set your clocks forward one hour.

It’s also the perfect reminder to take a few minutes to check in on your home. Seasonal change is a great time to handle a few small things that help keep everything safe and running smoothly.

Here are a few quick homeowner checks I recommend:

• Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
• Replace batteries if needed
• Check exterior lights and motion lights
• Make sure door and window locks are working properly
• Adjust programmable thermostats for the longer daylight

I also like to take a 2-minute walk around the house and look for anything winter may have loosened up — small things caught early can prevent bigger headaches later.

This kind of thoughtful maintenance is something I believe in strongly. Your home should feel solid, safe, and well cared for.

That same mindset is how we approach remodeling at Incredible Home Improvements — thoughtful planning, clear communication, and craftsmanship that lasts.

Enjoy the longer evenings and the first signs of spring.

Northport Kitchen Transformation ✨

This kitchen had great potential, but the layout was working against the space.

One of the first things we noticed was a redundant exterior door in the back of the room. Since the home already had a sliding patio door nearby, we were able to close that opening and create valuable wall space for cabinetry and a more functional layout.

We also resized an oversized window that previously prevented cabinets from being installed around it. By adjusting the window and relocating the sink beneath it, the homeowners now have a beautiful view of the yard while doing dishes — something they didn’t have before.

Another big change was removing a hood wall and opening up the kitchen so it flows naturally into the adjoining living room with a fireplace. The goal was to create a more connected space where the kitchen and living area feel like one open environment.

The finishes were completely refreshed as well. Out went the rounded walls, late-90s cabinetry, and diagonal Tuscan-style tile backsplash. In their place we installed classic white shaker cabinets, timeless white subway tile, and warm red oak hardwood flooring.

The island was redesigned with a 12-inch overhang so it can now comfortably be used for seating — something the homeowners couldn’t do before.

The overall transformation shifted the space from dated beige tones to warm modern neutrals, creating a kitchen that feels brighter, more open, and far more functional for everyday living.

If you’ve been thinking about remodeling your kitchen, thoughtful layout changes like these can make a dramatic difference.

Remodel With Intention.

A kitchen renovation is rarely just about new cabinets.

In this Lindenhurst home, the original kitchen felt dated and lacked the storage and functionality the homeowners needed.

By removing the soffits above the cabinets, adding a pantry cabinet, and installing roll-out drawers in the island, we were able to dramatically improve storage while keeping the layout clean and functional.

Behind the walls we also replaced old cast iron plumbing and outdated shut-off valves to ensure everything was built for long-term reliability.

The goal wasn’t just to modernize the look — it was to create a brighter, calmer space that feels cohesive and easy to live in every day.

If you’re thinking about updating your kitchen, I’m always happy to talk through ideas and help homeowners understand what’s possible before making any decisions.

With the amount of snow Long Island is getting today, we wanted to share a few quick safety tips to help protect your home during and after the storm.

Heavy snowfall can put a surprising amount of stress on certain areas of your home — especially roofs, decks, older gutters, and exterior stairs.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Clear snow buildup around exterior vents to prevent ventilation issues
• Make sure furnace and dryer exhaust pipes stay unobstructed
• Watch for ice buildup along roof edges and gutters
• Use caution on decks — excess weight and hidden ice can make them unsafe
• Check that sump pump discharge lines remain clear once melting begins

If you're unsure about anything around your home, it's always better to take a careful look sooner rather than later.

Stay safe and warm out there today, Long Island.

This Lindenhurst kitchen had great potential — it just needed a thoughtful redesign to bring everything together.

The original space felt outdated and lacked the storage and layout needed for everyday use. As part of this remodel, we:

✔️ Reconfigured outdated plumbing and replaced old cast iron piping
✔️ Removed soffits to allow for taller cabinetry and increased storage
✔️ Added a dedicated pantry cabinet
✔️ Installed roll-out drawers in the island for easier access
✔️ Replaced laminate countertops with custom quartz
✔️ Installed a new tile backsplash for a clean, cohesive finish

The goal was to modernize the space while maintaining a timeless feel — creating a brighter, calmer kitchen that feels both functional and inviting.

All on-site work was completed in approximately 3 weeks, with a short pause while the custom quartz countertops were measured and fabricated off-site. Once installed, we returned to complete the final details including appliance installation and tile backsplash.

A well-planned process helps keep projects moving forward efficiently — and ensures every detail comes together the way it should.

If you're thinking about updating your kitchen, we're always happy to start a conversation.

Imagine starting your day in a bathroom that’s designed around how you actually live.

No waiting for the sink.
No cluttered counters.
No harsh overhead lighting while getting ready.

Just a calm, organized space where everything has its place —
and getting ready in the morning finally feels easy again.

We recently helped a local Long Island couple transform their outdated bathroom into a more functional layout with improved lighting, safer tub access, and a design that supports their daily routine — not works against it.

Because a well-designed bathroom doesn’t just improve how your home looks…
it improves how your home feels every single day.

If your current bathroom is causing more stress than comfort,
it may be time to start imagining what’s possible.

Here is a kitchen project we completed in Farmingville. Besides the incredible transformation, here are a few key elements that improved performance and atmosphere.

We removed a partition wall separating the kitchen from the dining room and replaced it with a functional island — creating an open space where cooking no longer means being cut off from family or guests.

We replaced the existing floating floor with durable porcelain tile for a more permanent, water-resistant surface built to handle everyday kitchen use.

We installed a five light pendant light above the island to provide focused task lighting while adding warmth and visual balance to the space.

To improve both utility and ambiance, under-cabinet lighting was added for shadow-free prep areas, along with in-cabinet lighting behind glass doors to softly highlight interior features in the evening.

Finally, the new range hood vents directly to the exterior — fully removing cooking odors and improving indoor air quality throughout the home.

The result is a kitchen that feels more open, more connected, and better suited for daily living.

In this shared husband-and-wife bathroom, we made several upgrades that weren’t just about appearance — but about comfort, safety, and daily usability.

✔️ Converted Single Sink to Double Vanity
Allows both homeowners to comfortably use the space at the same time — reducing congestion during busy mornings and creating a more functional shared routine.

✔️ Replaced Overhead Recessed Lighting with Wall Sconces
Downlighting can create harsh shadows when looking in the mirror. Face-level wall sconces provide more natural, even lighting — better for grooming, shaving, and makeup.

✔️ Installed Lower Step-In Alcove Tub
The previous drop-in tub had a higher entry point. We replaced it with a lower-height tub to make stepping in and out safer and more manageable over time.

✔️ Added Grab Bar for Assisted Entry
A simple but important aging-in-place feature that adds stability and peace of mind — without sacrificing the clean design of the space.

✔️ Built-In Shower Niche
Keeps soap and shampoo neatly stored without the need for hanging baskets or corner shelves that decrease potential slip hazards.

END RESULT:
A well-designed bathroom should support how you live today — and how you plan to live tomorrow.

Bathroom remodels in older Long Island homes can be more complex than they appear on the surface.

Here are 3 things homeowners should understand before getting started:

1. Older walls are rarely straight or square.
Many homes built before the 1960s weren’t framed with modern tolerances. This can affect tile layout, cabinetry fitment, and even how a shower enclosure sits. Extra care (and time) is often required to get a clean, professional finish.

2. Waterproofing is behind-the-wall work — not visible work.
A properly built shower involves much more than tile and grout. The materials and techniques used beneath the surface are what prevent long-term moisture issues, mold, or structural damage.

3. Small bathrooms require thoughtful layout — not just smaller fixtures.
In tight spaces, proper spacing, door swings, vanity depth, and shower placement all play a role in whether the finished room feels open or cramped.

Planning these details ahead of time can make the difference between a bathroom that simply looks new… and one that truly functions well.

This 1920 cottage bathroom came with tight dimensions, aging walls, and outdated plumbing.

Small spaces require thoughtful layout, careful planning, and experience — especially in older homes.

The goal wasn’t just to make it look good. It was to make it feel open, functional, and rebuilt properly behind the walls.

Older homes have character — they just need the right approach.
