🐝 Bees: The Silent Architects of Our Food System
Bees do much more than make honey. Their pollination work supports over 100 key crops, from fruits and vegetables to nuts and seeds.

🌾 They also help grow clover and alfalfa, essential for feeding livestock.
🌸 Their role sustains plant diversity, soil health, and balanced ecosystems.

Protecting pollinators directly supports the food supply, wildlife habitats, and farming systems we all depend on.
A healthy future grows from the wings of a bee. 🌍🌿🐝

With all the buzz about native pollinators, we’d like to give a fuzzy, warm shout out to bumblebees! Did you know there are over 400 species of native bees in New York State, including bumblebees? Females raise a small nest of young that they pad with beeswax in already existing cavities. After hatching, the females continue to work in the nest, providing food and security, and the males leave the nest. You may find the sleepy males snoozing on flowers and other vegetation as they feed on nectar and look for mates.

Pictured below is a two-spotted bumblebee, which is native to New York.
