Our daughters room. It was supposed to be just the ceiling and walls, but things escalated quickly once we moved enough stuff out to pull the rug and realized that the floor under it badly needed refinishing. The baseboards were in rough shape and needed to be stripped back, so that process got started in step with refinishing the floor, bringing the scope to ceiling, walls, floor, and baseboard....how could we ignore the casing at that point?
Floor was sanded to 100 grit, water popped, stained, abraded, and finished with hardened water based polyurethane.
All woodwork was stripped, sanded, primed, filled, caulked, and top coated. The rosette plinth blocks were particularly challenging, as enough paint had built up in the bead detail over the years that they were almost flush, moreso on the bottom because, gravity.
These are also made of poplar, which is much softer than the oak ones elsewhere in the house, and had been rather crudely sanded at some point in their life. My goal wasn't perfection with them, just redefining the details. They can be further refined during subsequent recoats, as this is an 8 year olds room and I expect the color to change again sooner rather than later.
A certain Swedish furniture and decor company wanted to charge us ridiculous money to ship us a cubic storage system, and with the nearest brick and mortar location in New Haven CT, I went to their website, found the measurements I needed (basket size mostly), and made my own based on a sketch my wife drew up.
