This is the basis of my business. I am fully aware that without renovation and construction, I would be out of a job and without a career. However, I also know that if done correctly, an older home can be updated without destroying its character.

I love reusing a building in a different way. It goes back to my thoughts on the impact demolition has on our landfills and the strain on material resources. Adaptive reuse should always be an option.

Some examples of adaptive reuse are:
🏢Converting a warehouse into apartments or office space, ⛪transforming a church into a restaurant or cultural center, 🚂reusing a historic train station as a retail or entertainment venue, 🏭adapting an old factory building for a new purpose, such as a coworking space or arts center, or 🏥turning an old psychiatric hospital (📷) into apartments.

My biggest argument is the environmental impact. The greenest building is the one already built. There is no need for a house that has stood for over 100 years to be lost to a landfill simply because it’s old. It’s almost guaranteed that it could stand for another 100 years, reducing the strain on resources.
