With storms rolling in, don't hesitate to reach out!
~OUTDATED~
~Tornado Outbreak Likely Monday-Monday Night~
A tornado outbreak is likely tomorrow afternoon, evening, and into the overnight hours for a large portion of the Midwest. Thunderstorms are expected to develop near the surface low first midday in eastern SD and central MN and move east/southeast through the evening. Intense straight-line wind gusts up to 80 MPH and isolated tornadoes will be possible. Further south along the dry line and a boundary in the warm sector across the moderate risk, discrete supercells are expected to develop in the late afternoon/early evening hours and move northeast/east. Destructive hail and strong/long-tracked tornadoes are likely in these.
A quite a bit of high-resolution guidance struggles to develop supercells at all in IA Monday afternoon. There is little, if any CAP in place and the upper-air pattern is supportive of arcing supercells to develop with plenty of forcing from a strong jet streak with rapid jet streak transition speed. The kinematics are there for long-lived supercells capable of producing strong tornadoes. We will continue to watch trends today.
