Speaking out and speaking the truth is something we should all be doing before we are unable to.
I’m struggling to find words today—but silence isn’t an option.
When racist imagery comparing Black people to apes is circulated and amplified by those with the President of the United States it’s not just offensive—it’s dangerous. This isn’t coming from the shadows of the internet; it’s being normalized at the highest levels of public life. And that should alarm every person of conscience.
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama represent what is best in this country: intelligence, discipline, integrity, public service, love for humanity, and commitment to the common good. They are patriots. They are leaders. They are builders.
Racist dehumanization—no matter who shares it—has a long, violent history in America. When it’s excused, minimized, or defended because of political loyalty, we’re no longer talking about policy disagreements. We’re talking about moral failure.
And yes, I’ll say this plainly: if you call yourself a Christian and can reconcile your faith with the idolatry of racism, cruelty, and corruption, something is deeply broken. The Jesus I follow does not baptize hatred or bow to power. Scripture warns us about deception that looks like strength but bears rotten fruit.
I refuse to normalize evil.
I refuse to spiritualize cruelty.
And I refuse to pretend this is “just politics.”
If calling this out makes you uncomfortable—sit with that.
If defending it feels necessary—examine that.
Light exposes darkness. Always.
