Quick pool tip that'll save you a pump motor!

Your water level should sit about halfway up the skimmer opening — the bottom third at minimum, the top third at most.

Too low? The skimmer starts sucking air, the pump loses prime, and the motor runs dry. That's how $500+ pump replacements happen.

Too high? Water moves too slowly across the skimmer mouth, and debris drifts right past it. You end up cleaning more, not less.

In the summer heat, water evaporates fast. Glance at your skimmer once a day during summer, and top off when it drops about 2 inches. Five seconds of looking saves a lot of repair calls.

Texas just flipped the switch from "spring" to "swimsuit."

Here's the part most pool owners don't see coming: once your water creeps past 88°F, chlorine starts burning off much faster than it did in April. Add direct sun, and you've got a perfect storm for an algae bloom — sometimes overnight.
A few quick wins for the next 90 days:
✅ Test free chlorine at least once a week (more if the pool gets heavy use)
✅ Keep CYA between 30–50 ppm for Chlorine pools and 60-80ppm for salt pools — it's sunscreen for your chlorine
✅ Run the pump longer as temps climb (8–12 hrs is normal for summer)
✅ Brush the walls weekly, especially shaded corners
Stay ahead of it now, and you'll skip the green-water panic in July.
