🌲🏡 Big change for this old farmhouse!

What started as a towering pine right next to the house is now gone, opening up the view and giving the home a whole new look.
Sometimes the biggest difference we make isn’t just removing a tree, but transforming how a property feels.

Today’s Sam’s last day with us before he heads back for his senior year of college and his final season of college baseball ⚾️.

He’s hands-down one of the hardest-working and most dedicated people I’ve ever met. But what’s really set him apart is his attitude—always positive, always upbeat, and somehow making the workday more fun no matter what we were up against.

Over time, he didn’t just become part of the crew—he became part of the family. My kids are still convinced he is family… and honestly, so am I. Plus, working with him has been like a crash course in “young people lingo.” I can’t say I fully speak it yet, but thanks to Sam, I’m at least fluent enough to know when I’m being roasted.

We’re beyond thankful for all the time, effort, and laughs he’s given us, and we’re really going to miss having him around every day. Go make this last year count, Sam—we’ll be cheering you on from back home! 🙌 Your hardhat will always be hanging here, ready for you if you decide to come home to us.

Friday afternoon vibes from Sam
Two blowers, one rake, and zero time to waste. Sam’s on a mission to break the world record for fastest cleanup—because his weekend plans definitely don’t involve sawdust.

Helmet? Check. Leaf blower? Double check. Motivation? His girlfriend’s waiting.

June called… it wants to be a lake now. 🌧️💦

After more than 6 inches of rain this month, why not go out with one last splash? We can’t remember the last time we weren’t able to get equipment in yards for an entire June—this has definitely been one for the books.

Still, we kept pushing forward where we could, and we’re hopeful July brings some dry ground so we can catch up on backyard work.

At Smith’s Tree Service, we treat your property like it’s our own—which means adjusting schedules when needed to make sure we can get in and out without leaving a trace.

Sure glad the chainsaw missed this large chunk of concrete! Although concrete might sound like a good idea to help a hollow tree... here's why not

🚫Concrete doesn’t flex like wood:
Trees move and grow—concrete doesn’t. This causes cracks where the tree and concrete meet, letting in water and accelerating decay.
🚫It traps moisture inside:
That leads to rot, fungus, and even internal collapse over time.
🚫It adds weight where it shouldn’t be:
Heavy concrete puts stress on the already weakened structure, sometimes making failure more likely.

From trees to a sign!
Nothing happens without a little help from friends.

Huge thanks to:
• Bailey Rarick – surprised us with the sign (made by Foghorn Designs) for Christmas
• Clayton Ott – milled the logs
• Dan Kocher – made the brackets Dan Kocher
• Paul Temple – provided the flagpole
• Mike Rufo – handled the fab work Mike Rufo
• Kevin Rospert – flagpole foundation Kevin Rospert

This one means a lot to us—made from our own oak trees, built by people we’re proud to know. Appreciate you all!
