Outdoor Spaces
The best outdoor spaces are those that blend architecture with nature, blurring the line between in and out. This home was designed in a golf course community for empty nesters that have family to entertain. The attached guest house provides a perfect touch of privacy while creating dramatic outdoor/indoor spaces. Let’s take a closer look:
1. Entrance tower creates buffer zone for public and private outdoor spaces.
2. Trellis adds sense of procession and Importance to entrance.
3. Adding areas of landscape softens the courtyard and provides an opportunity for color.
4. Guest House looks into courtyard space.
5. Outdoor fireplace adds scale and creates a buffer to define courtyard.
6. Two way fireplace adds drama to both the inside and the outside.
7. Large exterior sun deck provides a great platform for entertaining and becomes an outdoor Living Room.
8. Covered porch acts as a transition between indoor and outdoor space.

One Plan, Multiple Elevations

The Huxley
From a single, well-considered plan, multiple elevations with distinct personalities can be created simply by choosing and committing to a clear architectural style.

Whether an elevated European, a timeless Modern Prairie, or a cutting-edge Scandinavian, the style provides a framework that guides proportions, materials, rooflines, and overall composition that results in a cohesive, confident design that feels both custom and timeless.

A Recalling timeless and historical European design, a steep roof pitch creates dramatic visual interest and allows for tall windows and pronounced gable ends

B Blending of high-contrast white masonry with dark, moody siding materials allows for a dynamic elevation that stuns in its simplicity

C Low-pitched hipped roofs elongate the design and bring a strong sense of horizontality to the elevation, while dramatic overhangs produce dynamic shadows and a refined curb appeal

D Mulled, continuous bands of horizontal glass define a true Modern Prairie design, allowing for plenty of natural light and visual interest from the street

E Simple, defined gable forms at the peak of the roof wrap the overhangs and continue to the base of the elevation to evoke a Scandinavian style

F The simplicity of the elevation balances large, clean windows with the warmth and character of natural materials that blend seamlessly with the natural environment
