As some of you know, we faced a big challenge on Monday. We had a small structure fire that affected some of our residents. First and foremost, we are grateful that safety systems we have in place were effective and did what they were supposed to do. It's been a whirlwind over the past several days, with a lot of activity. We are able to sit down and take inventory of what we are dealing with, and what we feel the most is gratitude!
When something like this happens, it gives us an opportunity to reflect on our blessings. Primarily, that there was no serious injury or loss of life. Things can be replaced and structures can be rebuilt. Our residents are priority and, though inconvenienced, everyone is okay.
Next, we see the outpouring of love and support from our community. From the first hours with our local Oak Hill Fire Department and Oak Hill Police Department we are grateful for your quick response and support on the scene. In addition, we are grateful for our local hotel(s) for working with us to quickly provide shelter. We are grateful to Randy L. Haynes for reaching out first thing and assisting with meals and transportation where needed. We also thank Fayette County Senior Program for their assistance. Next, we are so grateful to the people who live in our community that have provided professional assistance and expertise to help us move forward with next steps. There are so many to name, and I know we are leaving out some. We truly appreciate all of our community partners for the love shown.
Finally (for now), we are grateful to our residents who have been patient, understanding, compassionate and willing to help each other as we navigate this challenge. We have some hurdles ahead of us, but we will do it together. π
