The most frequently asked question I get during this time of year is, “Is right now a good time to plant in this heat?” My answer is any time of year is okay to plant as long as you keep up on your watering! It’s very important to get your trees or plants acclimated to their new spot in the ground so I tell customers they must water everyday for the first week or so no matter what time of year it is. The rootball will dry out faster than your soil around the plant because roots have not tapped into your native soil. Once they become acclimated then you can lean off on the watering. Don’t plant anything in this heat if you can’t keep up on the watering so if you’re going on vacation I advise to wait until you can babysit your new plants for at least 2 weeks or more. For young trees proper staking is important especially with high winds. Contact me for any plant installations I love to help.
