This weekend Thursday evening through Saturday (Oct 24th-26th) is Mark Lakeman's workshop in the San Francisco Bay Area on Redesigning the Commons, Placemaking, & Village Building.

http://www.livingmandala.com/Living_Mandala/Redesigning_the_Commons_with_Mark_Lakeman.html

This is some of the most phenomenal work happening to transform our cities into common spaces with truly sustainable infrastructure through facilitating community projects and gathering neighbors together to design the places where they live.

Mark was the most inspiring speaker at the 2012 N. Cal Permaculture Convergence and has been designing and creating neighborhood places and community commons for over a decade. Check out the work of City Repair with their intersection paintings and public installations and get ready for Oakland's place making block party November 9th: http://aplaceforsustainableliving.org/ai1ec_event/festival-commons-neighborhood-placemaking-block-party/?instance_id

I highly recommend going to the Mark Lakeman place making workshop this weekend if you can swing it-read more and register here: http://www.livingmandala.com/Living_Mandala/Redesigning_the_Commons_with_Mark_Lakeman.html
