Want the most life (and truest fragrance) out of your candle? Trim your wick.
Every one of my candles has its burn time printed on the label, and it’s based on a trimmed wick.
In fact, not trimming your wick can reduce the life of your candle by 25% or more. That could mean 60 hours instead of 80 for a large candle.
Why? A long, mushrooming wick creates a massive, flickering flame that burns through wax way too fast and releases excess soot into the air. The excess heat can also distort the scent making your candle smell weak, different, or not at all.
The fix? Keep your wick trimmed to 1/4 inch before every single light, and trim while burning if necessary to keep the flame below 1 inch in size. That way you get a cleaner, slower, and more fragrant burn every time.
This applies to all candles, not just mine.
So grab your scissors or a wick trimmer and give your candles a trim today.
Send this to the friend who never trims their wick.
