The Shore Gardener Custom in ground and raised bed gardens, herb towers, and mild landscaping. I choose to only use Red Cedar as my primary wood for many reasons.

I specialize in building custom raised beds, planters, and other garden related furniture using only the best materials and providing the highest level of craftsmanship and durability. The natural properties of this wood are rot resistance, water resistance, and insect repellent. For this reason, it proves to be not only the nest wood for the job due to its durability and longevity, but also its b

eauty. It has streaks of red, white, and tan and contrasts all the way through dark maroon through dark browns and blacks. I pride myself in being an all organic and all natural builder, using what's best for the plants that are to be housed inside and choose to put extra effort in ensuring that each piece is built to a high standard.

Some of my most recent work! Garden season still is not over. You still have a chance to get your very own planter for veggies, herbs, and more. More important, the custom planters I build can hold anything yoy choose. Need a nice yard focus piece? Or maybe a corner flower beds, or maybe even a tree planter? Tidings to all my fellow gardeners out there. I have a Public Service Announcement!!!
Do not feel obligated to plant your vegtable gardens on Mother’s Day or the days following. This year has been exceptionally cold. Planting veggies between may 11-20th will not provide you with earlier yields. Plants need warm soil to grow and thrive. If temperatures are not averaging 55+ most days and nights then it’s not ideal. Plants planted in such environments won’t nessesarily die, but won’t grow. Hence why I typically wait until the last week of may personally. It up to you, just my personal opinion. Cold crops are welcome now and whenever though.

Today we finished a two day brick walkway job… the goal was to use a supply of older bricks to create a new walkway that was level, and slope down and away from the house. Then build up next to the foundation and add plants to minimize rain water from collection in that area. It’s a part shade area, hence, we used some Azalias and some other water friendly plant in order to not only make it look good, but function as a water. Here are the results!

One of our first “fall” landscaping make overs we have done. They wanted a hassle free, low maintenance front yard with stone. So we laid thick landscape fabric, planted, and laid 1-3 inch Delaware River rock over entire area. Left small circles of mulch for the plants. With rows of boxwoods in the back and a variation of flowering bushes from spring to fall, this front yard will grow in very nicely over time. We moved over 20 thousand pounds of stone, dirt, and debree in less than 3 days to finish this job. Hats off to my guys for being beasts.
