With the warmer days coming, leave the grass and leaves alone until planting time so the good bugs still hibernating will not freeze with the cold nights ahead. Now would be a great time to get seeds started for this growing season. Lastly, if you think the lawn needs a drink pull the hose out and use it until we are out of freezing temps overnight. :)

Now that the holidays are past us, on should consider giving those compost piles a stir and perhaps some water to help breakdown fibers so It's close to being done around june for natural fertilizer.

Now that the killer freeze has come it's time to load the beds and gardens with leaves and grass clippings to insulate the good bugs in your garden. Composting is also a great way to get some goodies to spread on in the spring. Layers of brown matter and green matter with some water per layer and a sprinkle of done compost will activate the breakdown process. Lots to do to put growing areas to bed before Old Man winter shows up!

Days are getting shorter it's time to think about getting new grass seed for this fall planting. It would be advantageous to also book the power raking and plugging to get done before overseeding. Also might think about getting third fertilizer application on and pick up fall application fertilizer when you get starter fertilizer for the new grass seed :)

With the temps getting to 100 for the next ten days you might want to consider watering an extra few times until the temps get back into the 90s.

With the temps getting in the 90s need to raise up your mower decks a full notch as to leave 3.5 inches in height to shade the ground and promote root growth. don't forget to fertilize and if your lawn needs ironite might get that applied also before a good rain :)
