Io LandArch

Io LandArch Io LandArch is a woman-owned landscape architecture and urban design studio, based in Ogden, Utah.

We weave culture and nature to create super-natural places – places that are imbued with a sense of connection, context, and meaning. Io takes a holistic approach to landscape architecture - from large sites with many demands and purposes to small, quiet spaces for gathering family and friends - we believe that design starts with an understanding of how nature creates a space for human connection

. Each of our projects takes into consideration the desired functionality and pairs stylistic elements with sustainable features to achieve a space which not only meets the needs of today but provides a thoughtful platform for future growth and development.

Swipe to see the initial renderings for this Salt Lake City Residence! The client's primary priority was to make the entire backyard accessible for their son who uses a walker/wheelchair. This overarching goal inspired a curved, naturalistic design for the yard, with a retaining wall, patio space, a pergola with swing, and space for garden boxes and food producing space.

πŸ› Sunnyvale Park is a hub for Millcreek City’s after-school programs and farmers market, and is frequented by families and children. Io LandArch partnered with city staff to reimagine the park to better support these layered uses.

The process began at a Saturday morning farmers market, where we connected with a broad cross-section of the community, including many young voices who helped shape new ideas for the space. The resulting design introduced a pavilion, community garden, regulation soccer field, fitness loop, expanded playground, and improved sports courts. The playground shown here was completed in 2021, and designed to encourage creative and active play.

As landscape architects, every month is earth month. We're so grateful to get to work across the state on projects that improve ecological function and connect people to nature.
