SEASONAL HOURS UPDATE

TUESDAY-SATURDAY 9AM-1PM

MAY-AUGUST

Summer heat is here!

As an owner-operated nursery, we’re shifting to summer seasonal hours of Tuesday–Saturday, 9AM–1PM.

This adjustment allows us more behind-the-scenes time for the increased maintenance that comes with Florida summer season — watering, weeding, farm and irrigation maintenance, plant care, restocking, and keeping everything healthy and high quality for our customers.

Fewer retail hours = more time focused on maintaining the quality and care Local Roots is known for. 🌿 Thank you for supporting small, local, owner-operated business!

Many of you knew my dad, Walter Rose, who helped out here at Local Roots Nursery for the past year.

In honor of him, I wanted to share his obituary with our customers and friends. Thank you for the kindness you’ve shown our family. The nursery will be closed Saturday 3/14 while I honor my Father and give him a final farewell at his Celebration of Life memorial.

View Walter Jason Rose's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.

🥶 Brrrr… it’s going to be a cold one tonight.

With wind chills dipping as low as 27°F, now’s the time to protect your cold-sensitive plants.

What you can do:
✅Water plants well before temperatures drop
✅Cover plants with frost cloth or breathable fabrics like old sheets or towels
❌ Avoid plastic coverings, which can trap cold and burn plant tissue

🪴 Potted plants:
Move containers indoors or into a protected area like a carport or garage.

🌤 In the morning:
Remove coverings once temperatures rise and continue to monitor the forecast. Cold snaps can occur throughout the season, so be prepared to protect plants whenever temperatures dip again.
