Updates to home I originally finished 20 years ago. New warm grays blended to a warm off white for a timeless look. Cerused oak and cypress added to iron acetate rottenstone finished builtins with original white oak cabinets.

The paint job wasn’t all that awe inspiring but the floor to ceiling glass is. Jim Frazier design. I grew up playing in the houses my uncle and grandfather did for him and then worked on them myself the last 25 years.

Iron Acetate stain on white oak paneling, earth plaster walls, flooring fumed and limed oak, also limestone. Painted cabinets and trim SW 200 eggshell oil enamel. Bleached and wash stained white oak cabinets. Vanity bleached white oak jesso and waxed. Furniture and move in soon.

Chemical stains have historically been used more as a preservative or as a result of years of use and the color resulting from that process. For instance limed oak or cerused. It could result from lye bleaching, ammonia/cleaners which can also fume the oak. Another chemical stain Ferrous Sulfate or iron acetate can be used to darken and gray oak. Here is a ferrous sulfate finish without a cerused white grain applied.

White oak still being used today 25 years after my first large new construction project. It’s a little more challenging will color variations. Pinkish to greyish. Here trying to move everything towards the grey tones.

Doing a little patch on a long time customer’s home. I began working for them when they trusted me with their kitchen remodel in 1983. We eventually re painted the entire house over the years until they built this home almost 20 years ago. Customers for over 40 years. The beams were reclaimed cypress. The furniture much from their original home

The smile is because I’m done and the sheen is truly amazing I knew going in that the prep work had to be perfect also the application of the paint was unforgiving. gave me the challenge. It was a team effort by my crew. Drywall prep to paint prep they did the needed steps to achieve the finish product. Can’t wait to see the paper, lighting and furniture.
