Windswept Farm & Gardens The Daylily Hybridizing program of Terry & Ashton Lopp

We began hybridizing daylilies in 2009, we now grow over 1,500 registered cultivars and produce thousands of seeds every year.

After 22 days with no rain, we got the first rain over an inch this year. 1.2” almost a week ago was nice. Really made the grass and weeds grow.

Here are some recent blooms from the seedling beds. All of these are diploid seedlings.

This does not look like garden pictures, but this is why my garden is a terrible mess. At least the first photo is today so the months long project has an end in sight at least for the roof.
We are near or at peak bloom. I did not see the garden yesterday until nearly dark so I walked the flower garden early this morning. Our conditions are severe drought so if the Lord has been keeping my roofing project dry for most of this year then the rain can come soon.

More blooms from the seedling beds. Some insect damage from earwigs. All of these are diploids.

This season is not looking like a particularly good season for our garden. I have been doing some home remodel and repair that is taking my time away from the garden and needs to continue as a priority. Drought conditions and our lack of watering and the need to get rid of weeds and grass in the flower bed have us in disappointment of our conditions.
That said, to the credit of our beautiful Daylily collection, lots of them just show off no matter what. Like many of Ashton’s seedlings and some early blooms of our introductions.
