Hey y’all, It feels like forever since I’ve posted, and honestly, the world seems completely turned upside down and inside out since then.
I want to take a moment to welcome my new followers, as well as the familiar faces in this growing community. I’m so grateful to be sharing this space with you. For those who don’t know, Kelly Sunshine Designs began while working on the Soul and Soil Project with Alina. Initially, it was formed in 2018 to legitimize the garden projects we were bringing to the VA hospital in Asheville, NC, but it quickly grew into a permaculture landscaping business.
Over time, with more community involvement and expanding projects, it evolved into something larger—focused on ecological growing systems, education, empowerment, and local support. Today, it has transformed into what we now call .
It has been an honor to steward and lead many land-based relationships and projects. The fruits of this labor and love have nourished far more than just bellies. These Appalachian mountains offer an abundance of life and hold ancient, storied wisdom. We each carry memories of our chapters here—of community, deep roots, and enduring relationships. Though much has changed, we now have an even greater opportunity to heal with these mountains. The choice lies in how we reciprocate the abundance these lands provide, how we give back—not only to the earth but to one another.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we are inspired by the resilience, love, and efforts of our community. Challenging times like these remind us of the importance of working together to build better systems—for the land and for one another.
We’re excited to activate this new phase, and we invite you to join us. Follow, share, and let us know your thoughts—we’d love to hear from you.
Thank you for being here, and many blessings to you all. Before/After Picture 6 is the farm we had worked for years with Soul And Soil and that I did as my PDC project. After the hurricane
