As we enter our final few weeks before retirement, Bob and I continue to be incredibly grateful for the many well wishes and heartfelt congratulations on our retirement.

We’re fortunate to have been part of such a wonderful community, and to have gotten to know each and every one of you in the last four and a half years.

We want to quickly answer a few questions we’ve received in recent weeks.

1) The business is–and has been–doing very well. We simply made the decision not to renew our lease, and to wind down the store when most of you are here in town.

2) We are both happy & healthy. After 30 years of working together, we’ve decided that now is the time to turn the page and travel, explore and enjoy a little free time together.

3) We are going to explore several areas of the country and see which one fits us best. We’re grateful for everyone’s reccomendations – and encourage you to follow along with our next adventure here on social media.

Thank you all for you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing those of you who stop by in our final weeks.

After much consideration, we have made the heartfelt decision to "practice retirement." We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the wonderful community of Old Saybrook and all our amazing customers for your unwavering support and trust. You are much appreciated and Pieces would not have been a success without you and our amazing artisans.

Many of you have become like family as we've shared life's milestones—graduations, birthdays, weddings, new babies, the loss of loved ones, hostess gifts, new homes, holidays, new traditions and those special "just because" moments.
It has been a privilege and my pleasure to be a part of your lives.

Stay tuned for updates as we begin the wind down in July.

The Story of Pieces

My name is Jennifer Holdsworth. I am the Mom of amazing twin boys and an entrepreneur. A few years ago, my husband and I sold a portion of our 30-year-old business.

After the sale I decided to take a break and enjoy as much time as possible with my boys who will be heading off to college this fall.

During my ‘downtime’ I explored a passion and hobby buying, refinishing and re-purposing vintage furniture under the name Creative Statements. People loved the style, the pieces sold, and I found myself doing custom work helping clients craft the perfect look for their home.

I expanded the business from a hobby into a couple of rented spaces in existing vintage marketplaces which was great but I felt as though it wasn’t enough, there could be something more.
