Heres a good little tidbit on tilling wet soil. Im currently waiting on a customers garden to dry up some so I can till in the soil & compost she ordered after I initially tilled up her 100' x 50' patch.

Rototilling Wet Soil. Whether you want to prepare your garden bed for spring planting or mix compost into the soil in fall, using a rototiller when the soil is wet is a bad idea. Wet soil tends to become hard and compact when disturbed, and that condition is the opposite of what tilling is intended....
