We're looking for an Operations Manager who can help keep our team moving effectively through every season.
This role is the bridge between the front office and the field. You'll own the daily workflow in Aspire, lead crew training, conduct site visits, and step in as Snow Manager when winter hits. It's a hands-on leadership role for someone who builds structure and holds standards.
Day to Day
→ Crew scheduling, field coordination, and resource management
→ Hiring, mentoring, and managing crew leads and members
→ Site visits and post-job quality inspections
→ Safety and process compliance across all operations
→ Weekly training sessions and new hire onboarding
What We're Looking For
→ 10+ years in landscape or field operations
→ 3–5 years leading large teams
→ Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
→ Deep knowledge of turf, irrigation, pest control, and tree care
This role is in-person at our Omaha HQ, and will pay $60k+ depending on experience.

Position Summary
The Operations Manager (~$60k annually) supports the Director of Operations in daily administration, training, and coordination of Crew Leads and members. This role is the bridge between strategy and ex*****on, aligning people, processes, and resources to ensure high-quality service, budget adherence, and operational efficiency. We are looking for a leader who builds structure, enforces standards, and maintains accountability.
Core Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Build and enforce operational standards for consistency and efficiency across all crews
- Hire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team; conduct 90-day and annual performance reviews
- Review project specifications and drawings to plan and supervise landscape installation and maintenance projects
- Serve as Snow Manager during winter weather events
Field Coordination and Resource Management
- Assign work tickets (via Aspire) and manage daily scheduling, including PTO requests and weather delays
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials; monitor inventory and facilitate on-site deliveries and pick-ups
- Oversee safety and process compliance, ensuring adherence to OSHA and local regulations through regular audits
Client Relations and Quality Control
- Conduct weekly site visits and post-job inspections to ensure work meets Whelans standards
- Act as primary point of contact during project ex*****on, providing updates and resolving concerns
- Maintain clear communication between Finance, Sales, and Field Operations
Training and Administration
- Lead weekly training sessions for Crew Leads and members; provide on-site coaching and onboarding for new hires
- Maintain accurate records of labor hours, material usage, and project performance
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- 10+ years in landscape/field operations
- 3-5 years in a leadership role managing large teams
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Valid driver's license (ISA Arborist, Pest Control, or Applicator certifications are a significant plus)
- Comfortable working in a growing, hands-on, operations-focused environment
