Joe Cina and I just wrapped up this 14’x12’ deck and 4’x5’ landing with stairs. The original plan was to just re-deck with new treated decking boards, railing, and replace the footings, posts and beam, but when we demo’d the old decking boards we noticed some structural issues with the ledger board at the house. The railing was also very unsafe and the spindles were actually toe nailed to the decking boards. After talking to the clients we did a full tear down and complete rebuild, changing the deck design and layout to be more functional for their family as well as a more practical landing spot for the stairs. This deck is picture framed and features a black cable railing system with 4x4 posts and a 2x4 top drink rail. We rolled on some Fastenmaster Deck Frame Coating to prolong the life of the material. Thank you to the Thurin’s for your business and we hope you enjoy your new deck!
